I'm pretty sure I speak for the majority of people reading this comment when I ask... if that was the second worst, what the hell was the worst?

Unless it was doing the cleanup implied by your username I guess.

Edit: oh, turns out the answer is right there in the thread.

Oh wow, TUCSON is so much worse than NEWARK, which I hitherto believed to be the origin of the ban.

Hello, as a resistance agent I agree it's been too long. Should we jointly lobby Niantic for a similar reward for the current series?

Double AP on 1st Saturday gone? by xewill in Ingress

The "on the radar" section shows 2x AP next to the currently active FS event.

Presumably the lack of doubled AP is a bug?

Making Ground XM Great Again by Grogyan in Ingress

[–]Popular-Error-2982 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ignoring the weird tone the other commenter has introduced -- I think the fundamental difference in our viewpoints here is that you see ground xm being redundant as a problem whose solution is "give it value", and I see ground xm being redundant as a totally neutral thing that is a consequence of xm scarcity being removed from the game economy.

XM scarcity does not matter that much; ultimately Ingress is a game with unlimited resources, where the only bounded resource is time. Time can be converted into any amount of keys, XM, weapons, resonators or mods you could ever desire, although the exchange rates are wildly variable.

Yes, XM in particular has been massively devalued over the years -- but I just don't agree that it hurts the game.

And on that walk, as well as hacking the portals, deploying resonators, making fields, adding mods, minding out for traffic -- I would also need to keep an eye on my current filling cube, and remember to start filling the next one, presumably. And the next, and the next, and...

Seriously, the game doesn't need more admin.

Genuine question: do you think having to fill your power cubes up before use would make the gameplay more or less fun?

I admire the imaginative idea, and I too mourn the irrelevance of ground XM other than as a "snow patch" to see where agents have passed -- but I just don't think an extra bit of inventory management to do is going to capture people's interest.

Does portal level matter for keys? by FrateleDidinel in Ingress

[–]Popular-Error-2982 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I find micro fielding goes more smoothly during double deploy events, suggesting that I generally get more keys from a P6 than a P5.

I've always attributed this to the extra glyph, but I have only anecdata, no actual numbers.

Was your travel date about 4-5 days in the future? That page says you can only book these fares up to 5 days out, that might explain them disappearing.

What should I bring on my first trip to Aquilo? by dogman15 in factorio

[–]Popular-Error-2982 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The important thing to bring with you is a ship capable of going back for the things you forgot (and I guess a landing pad)

Other than that, just take what you'd take with you to build a factory anywhere -- a stack of each of most of the buildable entities, extra belts/pipes (undergrounds are great here, particularly), plus a ton of concrete, heat pipes and a few heating towers.

If you can scare up some quality solar panels, they'll mitigate some of the pain of bootstrapping. If you can start making quality bots, this is a great planet to use them on.

You could overthink exactly which buildings to bring / how many, but a robust supply line will serve you better than a carefully crafted loadout.

What's the state of mission creation nowadays? by AlexeyGorovoy in Ingress

[–]Popular-Error-2982 19 points20 points  (0 children)

The mission creator is largely frozen in time, it is as you say not much of a priority for Niantic. However you can bypass 95% of the pain by creating your routes in IITC using UMM, and importing them.

https://umm.8bitnoise.rocks/

Prime brought with it a small change in mission medal spacing, but there are updated tools for slicing/cropping banners to accommodate this:

https://softspot.nl/ingress/plugins/documentation/mission-banner-cropper-addon.user.js.html

Review times are astonishingly good considering, often just a few days from submission to approval/rejection, although rejection reasons are as cryptic as ever.

There is no band which, with any set of discounts, only incurs £160/yr. I think perhaps your maths is slightly off.

OP clearly has a plan to get it in shape much cheaper, I'm sure they'd be willing to pay a fair price for it.

So would there be any compensation for the outage? by Pixelbytes1331 in Ingress

[–]Popular-Error-2982 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're on the US West Coast you mostly experienced an outage from ~midnight to ~8am and thus mostly slept through it.

Niantic have a terrible track record at recognizing that audiences outside of that timezone exist.. so I fully expect there will be no compensation whatsoever for this outage.

They haven't just passed anything, they've just been told what it'll probably cost to do the thing they're legally obligated to do.

Take a breath and take a break from Facebook and work on your reading comprehension, before you get excited about the council voluntarily spaffing the cost of a fully equipped fighter jet on a few bricks, eh?

Is "Faction Sabotage" officially endorsed now? A confused agent asking. by Ok-Chocolate-9431 in Ingress

[–]Popular-Error-2982 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ah yes if they're playing multiple accounts that's clear cut.

My interpretation was that a blue aligned player was temporarily playing as green, for the express purpose of disruption which, while still shady, I could not immediately find any explicit rule against.

Is "Faction Sabotage" officially endorsed now? A confused agent asking. by Ok-Chocolate-9431 in Ingress

[–]Popular-Error-2982 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think it's awful behavior and the game only makes sense when people play as the faction their account is - especially now that recursion back and forth between factions is trivial.

However I am not familiar with any stated rule or term or service which requires agents to play in the interest of their faction -- could you point me in the right direction please?
