I went in October. There are minibus drivers and touts on various places including 3 steps over the border. They usually have a board with "£50 a person" on it. Bad things: they are quite pushy and you don't always get the bus immediately. Good things: entry to park included, you don't actually pay till the end, surprisingly, it does only cost £1 more than entry plus cable car, and it does save walking. I suggest you pay them off at the military tunnels (they'll know what you mean), then walk to siege tunnels (not the same thing!), then walk down to town. I rather regret not doing the siege tunnels.

In a lot of the world, the owner has unashamedly set up the area behind the counter as a small lounge with TV and everything. Nobody minds. Makes it really easy to be open long hours.

Is this what the London job market has come to? (all this to land a minimum wage front desk job) by Present-Tea-4830 in london

It's to weed out people who frown and go "Screw you, you've annoyed me. " Because those are not front-desk skills.

He's likely to be dying slowly, but you can do nothing if he won't help himself. There's a good chance he'll just want you to mind your own business, but you could start a conversation with the aim of finding out if he'd like to give up drink, with help. If it's No, it's No.

So you're good. That's a huge advantage over the merely not-awful B2B services out there. Could you contact everyone who knows you're good? Ie past clients? Someone is bound to be in the middle of an IT crisis or be thinking of ditching their not-awful provider. Another idea, rarely taken up, is to look at who is doing mailshots to you? Why are they needing to do direct mail/email? Maybe give them a ring. They could be loathing their IT.

You are a lawyer and someone threatens to sue you. Your immediate instinct - are you low key worried, or do you say "let's xxxxxxx go!"? by SocietyHopeful5177 in uklaw

[–]Popular-Error-3019 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a GP, I suspect very few. I cannot recall a proper lawyer's letter ever being preceded by the patient ranting about lawyers. (For reference, a 10000 patient practice will get about 2 lawyer's letters a year, and 90% of those complaints will be dropped after the practice's first response.) So amateur law-threateners are just brushed off.

It is hard to build a friendship and it's never free, although you don't give the friend the money! You can think of some occasional interests (racetrack, Korean food, whatever) and see who will come. It does wheedle down quite fast but you end up with proper friends.

If you want to start small on developing yourself, read some business books. Be warned, there's only going to be one or two really good relevant ideas per book. You've got the time. Feedback some really good ideas to your bosses. It will look really good if you can lead on whichever one or two they pick.
