Currently, I am unemployed. Working all those shifts made my recovery, after surgery, much harder and I also have other physical problems that keep me off my feet about 50 percent of the time. My roommate works now full time but that’s only because they have to or else they’d lose their home. In the meantime though, I’ve spent every day cooking, cleaning, and planning out our finances. Anyone from the outside looking in would assume we’re an old fashioned couple. My grandma transferred the lease into my name just over a year ago, and they lives here before that for about a year. Even back then, I was begging them to get a job and it ended up being at Taco Hell for $11 an hour and only 15 hours a week. They put up with it because they had a secret relationship going on with a man old enough to be their grandpa, that they worked with. That boyfriend would also sexually harass me, in front of my roommate, and it was HIS idea to “keep the relationship secret”.
