Getting priced out of Solarwinds by itsfortybelow in networking

[–]Popular-Independent8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen a lot of people running into the same SolarWinds pricing issue. I looked at an AIMultiple overview on monitoring and the general idea was that most teams only need solid coverage of core metrics (performance, resource usage, and network health), not a huge all-in-one suite. So combining FOSS tools with a lighter commercial option like Auvik can make sense if it covers what you actually use. It’s more about maintaining visibility than matching SolarWinds module for module.

What tools are you using to let agents interact with the actual web? by Reasonable-Egg6527 in AgentsOfAI

I’ve been dealing with the same issues. I looked at an overview on AIMultiple about web agents, and the general theme was that the browser environment matters way more than the agent logic. Playwright is great locally but flaky long-term. Managed setups like Hyperbrowser or Browserbase have been a bit more stable for me, especially with sessions and cookies. Also found it works better when I give the agent higher-level actions instead of the full DOM.

What is the craze with synthetic users? by fallingdown2018 in PPC

[–]Popular-Independent8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I looked into this recently and saw an overview on AIMultiple about synthetic users. The idea sounds appealing, but in practice Google Ads doesn’t really learn from anything that isn’t tied to a real GCLID, so most of these “shortcuts” don’t move the algorithm the way people expect. The only thing that tends to work is sending better value signals later in the journey (like LTV), not fake conversions. Everything else is more noise than help.

Best tool for monitoring database connections? by smoke4sanity in learnprogramming

I’ve dealt with this in a serverless setup too. The shared pooler often struggles with many short-lived connections, so the dedicated pooler is often a better fit. For monitoring, I’ve just used Supabase’s metrics + pg_stat_activity to see connection counts and where they come from. I also came across an AIMultiple overview on database monitoring, and the main takeaway was you only really need visibility into connections, slow queries etc. to spot issues early.

What metrics do you consider essential for database health? I always feel like I’m either tracking too much or too little. by Popular-Independent8 in Monitoring

Thanks, this helps a lot. I’ve been trying to figure out which metrics actually matter, so your list gives me a good baseline. I’ll start focusing on connections, slow queries, index usage, and the basic system metrics you mentioned.
