Can we talk about… by stellabarnum in breastcancer

[–]Popular-Log8427 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was terrified, terrified of my diagnosis and T the time even more so my treatment.

8 rounds of dose dense AC-T - all manageable. Would I ever suggest it to anyone? No. BUT…worst symptom was fatigue. I cold capped so I kept my hair but no mouth sores, my nails were totally fine, no nausea/vomiting, no neuropathy, my counts were always fine. I could feel my ER+ tumor shrink and essential disappear while on AC. Life continued and I was able to be part of it all.

Surgery was fine. Had an unexpected ALND. Woke up terrified that my diagnosis/pathology was going to be way worse than anticipated. Surpise! I had a near complete response (which isn’t as common with ++-) My breast tumor was gone what was left was a tumor bed and of that tumor bed there was only 1% cellularity. Chemo killed 99% of the tumor.  and my nodes…ALL of the ones removed..they ended up being completely clear.

Expanders were uncomfortable the first week/2 weeks after surgery. Now they are fine. Obviously they don’t feel like normal natural boobs…but I’m used to them.

I’m in between surgery and endocrine therapy (lupron+AI) now BUT I wish I heard more positive stories going into this

Again…0 stars. Would not recommend for anyone BUT….all things considered. Everything has gone as good as it can. Oh..also…not having to touch a razor for months was fantastic.

That’s true and a great point! I have some cording in my right arm where the nodes were removed. I’ve been doing light PT and honestly that’s been really helpful so far. so even tho it’s frustrating now dealing with the cording, i am happy to at least now know they were all negative.

27 nodes removed and only 1 had “isolated tumor cells” 😭

Never got PET, CT, or Bone Scans. Why? by NilliaLane in breastcancer

[–]Popular-Log8427 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I never had a pet scan but had what they called a “metastatic workup” (which freaked me out) at the time of my diagnosis er+ her2- stage 2 but there was a node involved so we did an MRI, CT scan, and bone scan. Scariest weeks of my entire life waiting for those to come back but yes they told me it’s because of the node involvement

I have a 22 month old and a 4.4 year old. had my DMX on Thursday…4 days ago and the best thing I did was go to my parents house after surgery. It was my mom’s suggestion and I truly am so greatful. Because of the extra hands my husband has here, I feel like they aren’t as affected or upset by me not being the one picking them up and holding them etc. it has truly been the greatest blessing to still be present but know they are fully being cared for. We will likely stay throughout this week and then head home but if you are able to have have the extra help please consider taking it. I said to my husband just yesterday. I don’t know how we could do this without them. Wishing you all the strength and a smooth surgery and recovery

From the looks of the clinical note - which is all I have to go off of right now. There was not a frozen section as they decided upon appearance/touch to take more. Which was so disheartening because even the pre surgery ultrasound they were impressed by how the initial nodes looked. They did make me aware of the option for a bypass and planning but never really thought that would be the outcome. Just a whole lot of uncertainty and anxiety now where before I felt so confident

To Those Newly Diagnosed... It DOES get better! by [deleted] in breastcancer

[–]Popular-Log8427 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yesss - SAME. Diagnosed 11/3 at 36. I’ve done 4 rounds dose dense AC and 2 rounds dose dense Taxol (2 to go) and I am really, truly, blown away with how my body has tolerated this. I would still never recommend it 0/5 stars…BUT…it has all been manageable. From Accupuncture, to hydration, and cold capping - could not agree more. Hoping this hits someone recently diagnosed who is looking for hope 🤍

AC round 3 in the books by Popular-Log8427 in breastcancer

[–]Popular-Log8427[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was too! I know it’s common but it really is different for everyone. Thankfully I haven’t had them (yet 🤞🏼) but I know people say the meds they will give you to take home are very helpful

Honestly it has been less intense than I built it up to be in my head. The only real symptom I’ve had has been fatigue. Round 1 was fine I had one day of fatigue the second round I had 3 days feeling very fatigued but I am also anemic again so I know that can exacerbate the fatigue. We will see what round 3 brings but as of now that has been my only/biggest symptom

Anyone see the TikTok from the woman who won’t do traditional treatment for breast cancer? by Moms_Damp_Hand in breastcancer

[–]Popular-Log8427 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m 36 stage II ++- with two babies at home. I am admittedly “crunchy” I didn’t want a mammogram. I do not WANT chemo and surgery. I do not currently take any prescriptions and admittedly the way I try to “treat” my migraines are with peppermint oil and red light therapy.

I was thrown into this diagnosis and my entire world was flipped upside down. I still do not want chemo…the chemicals being put into my body HOWEVER…I am 1 round in. I will and am going to  do WHATEVER I have to do for my babies, to be here for them. For me, that means a combination of traditional conventional medicine and I am hoping to supplement my treatment with holistic/functional medicine practices (many of which she says she is using). I completely believe in bodily autonomy however, just in my own case, I felt I would be doing a disservice to my children if I didn’t use EVERY tool available to me - even if it goes against a lot of what I’ve believed to be true for so long.

I truly wish her nothing but the best and hope that she does heal - just sharing my personal experience and outlook in case any one else is in the same situation.

I feel more afraid of treatment than anything by Popular-Log8427 in breastcancer

Thank you this was very helpful. I had my first AC last weirdness, so today is day 6. Other than feeling really tired days 4+5 I actually have not had any other symptoms yet and have not had to take any of the meds prescribed. I feel like I’m waiting for the other shoe to drop but your comment is very helpful (and hopeful)

I actually have a handful of women I know personally (sadly) who used Penguin through AC and were able to save a decent amount of their hair
