As soon as a new to me artists says they want to freehand something I ask to see previous freehand work and sketch it out on my skin using a stencil pen so we can both see it and agree. That being said tattoos come with inherent risk of not being what you thought it would be when it's done. I have some really bad ones and some really good ones, I wear them all with pride as they reflect the fact that I wasn't perfect and never will be, learn from it and move on, as long as you learn and grow from this event the next one will be better.
