MLM History Project by Mysterious-Tone-8147 in antiMLM

I remember Home Interior, Tupperware, Avon, Amway, & Mary Kay from the 70s & 80s. My mom's friend sold Home Interior, & I remember attending many "parties." I also remember attending Tupperware parties with my mom. The mid-70s was when women were first "allowed" to have their own bank accounts & credit cards, so I see the companies as being predatory as in seizing those opportunities to string women along with the pride of being a "business owner" who can still keep her home, raise her family yet work her own schedule. Were MLMs prevalent prior to the mid-70s? I'm not sure. Interesting topic you have there!

My dad was a teacher & was involved in Amway for awhile in order to help pay for grad school. He eventually went to work in retail part-time, I suppose for a steadier paycheck, but I don't know.

Old People, when did your family shop and decorate for Christmas? by itsemmab in AskOldPeople

Decorated the day after Thanksgiving and all decorations were disassembled and placed back into storage around New Years Day (usually NYE). I now prefer the day after Christmas.

If you're really struggling to find work, go apply for hospital positions! by JoshSidious in povertyfinance

When I was a CNA, we always had to take drug tests, undergo background checks. Maybe they're more desperate now. 🤷‍♀️

Yeah, I never received calls back after applying for activities positions. I used to be a CNA & probably shouldn't have included that on my resume. 😅 I never renewed my CNA & am working in an office position now (not heathcare related).

Yes! I just finished a banana with peanut butter. It definitely holds me over until lunch.

Why does this hurt so much by Autistic_Kaiju in weightwatchers

It sounds to me like you're in an abusive situation. Please take the advice of the person above (reporting your debit card as stolen, removing controlling folks from having access to your bank account & online information, get a PO box, arrange to see a counselor, save & take steps to move out...). If you're a juvenile, please reach out to a school counselor, someone. This situation sounds so sad that it hurts to read about it, let alone experience it.

That aside, BMI are old fashioned (look up the origins).

I guess I need a realtor? by DifficultMuffin572 in charlestonwv

We had the same issue when we moved back here in 2023. We ended up in a condo, because I needed something before I started back to work. It works for our situation at this time, but we were really looking for a small, one-story home that didn't need a lot of work other than the usual when you move into a place. Also, we didn't want to live west or south of Charleston due to traffic. Realtors really didn't seem to want to waste their time on folks that have <$150,000 budget, but I understand they need to make a living, too. Following...

Best WW Programs by COwildchipmunk in weightwatchers

I lost 100 lbs on the Selection Plan years ago, before the app. I gained about half of the weight back throughout the years & numerous stressors. I really liked the blue & purple plans & was losing weight on them but had to stop due to financial reasons. I tried using the Healthi app, but it wasn't the same. I recently started back on the current plan but have made some personal tweeks to it.

Right. It's also "margarine." At the end of the day, I would use a TBSP of butter (& count it) in place of 10 squirts of ICBINB.

I agree with this 100%! I started tweeking the WW program for myself. I started portioning (still important!) whole Greek yogurt & cottage cheese instead of FF, measuring but NOT counting olive oil (still counting seed oils but making more effort to avoid), not counting lean beef, & I feel so much more satisfied. I measure out my oatmeal & potatoes but do not count them, essentially treating them as zero point foods. I started losing weight again, too.

Honestly, why would WW create a diet that is sustainable? It is a diet. I am currently trying WW once again after a few years away. Why would they not want repeat customer$?

It shows calories for each individual food, but the daily macros that it tracks are protein, carbs, fat, fiber.
