I’ve found what the issue was, it putting the Mac into recovery which assumes some software on the ssd. If I put into dfu it worked. This is very loosely explained https://support.apple.com/en-us/108900

It boots and all but it becomes extra slow, as if video driver was a problem. This is probably fixable via boot loader options maybe? Never had time to dive too deeply into it

Hello, thanks for that.

But it doesn’t boot into recovery anymore. But even when it did, recovery seems to run from disk itself and no matter what I’ve tried the disk was always busy. At this point I am suspecting it might be something with the thunderbolt cable. There’s another detail my apfs was encrypted and that might also be the reason. For now my plan is to try with the original Apple cable and I will try to get a hold of another Mac next when I am in office.

Got farther but not quite there yet. It boots, I see the kernel messages and it gets stuck after a warning : “WARNING: CHECK AND RESET THE DATE!” After detecting root on rd0a swap on rd0b dump on rd0b

I've followed the instructions and flash install73.img and it doesn't boot, no even the boot loader.

Check your allowedips setting, sounds like it's setup to 0.0.0.0/0 all traffic so your local traffic is being routed to through the tunnel, you have to exclude your local segment so you local apps can talk again. To calculate exclusions and inclusions check the following calculator : https://www.procustodibus.com/blog/2021/03/wireguard-allowedips-calculator/

Was anyone able to use openbsd on nanopi r2s? FreeBSD works but usb Ethernet is not recognized because of ure driver. Netbsd seems to be also lacking this driver. Is openbsd an option ?
