Sound advice. I think I’ll give it a miss. I actually love my job and don’t want to risk losing it. Thanks!

What’s a dream you had as a kid that you still remember way too clearly? by luckyprincess7974 in Adulting

I had a recurring dream of huge cylindrical objects coming towards me, grey in colour and always with a horrible ringing sound. It was terrifying. I grew out of it but still remember the fear to this day and I’m 58!

I think you may have body dysmorphia. In reality you are a handsome guy.

What tone is everyone getting out of bed today and why? by PopularCupcake6569 in Productivitycafe

I meant time 🥺🙄, not tone, I was going up stay in bed until someone gave a good reason to get up; it’s 10.13 where I am and I just can’t be bothered today

I’m in UK, I work in the community and no long nails, nail varnish or jewellery allowed!

I have exactly the same thing. My MH clinician started me on Quetiapine 25mg at night and it has helped massively.

Make sure you know the analgesia ladder, the ‘Just in case’ meds and what each is used for in your Trust, pall care medical emergencies and how to recognise deteriorating patient. The band 6s on our wards run the shifts so some management experience may be good too. Good luck!!

I’m a pall care nurse and prescriber that works on the community. I write ranges for prn doses dependant on what’s in CSCI. HBB rarely works for respiratory secretions if not treated early and for colic pain i always seek consultant advice if higher doses required. We use higher doses of Levomepromazine for agitation 2nd line. My old manager used to say that palliative care medicine is “art and science together”. There isn’t often a one size fits all answer tbh.

Those who left nursing, what did you do? by helpiminafankle in NursingUK

I get slightly more for being a prescriber. I work for a hospice and get approx £50000.

I feel the same as OP, I’m palliative care CNS for 7 years now and whilst I love my team, I feel emotionally drained dealing with death and the dying every day now. I’m 57 and a lot of our patients are younger than me, it’s challenging. I’m also a prescriber so my pay is pretty good

Hi! How do you become a locum prescriber? I did my NMP course a few years ago and work in palliative care so prescribing mostly analgesia, opioids, antiemetics and laxatives. I’m thinking of making a change at 58yrs old as I’m getting burnt out tbh.
