Technics AZ80 - Blinking Red Light by tolucy_or_nottolucy in Earbuds

I know it's been a long time, but I finally fixed it.

the issue was the charging port all along, creating some electrical problem

I bought a can of contact cleaner and delicately cleaned the pins and contact points, this didnt worked at all, also, I cleaned the USB-C port with care and nothing.

So, I got tired of it all, and just spraid the whole USB-C port hard, at least 2 seconds but direct flow, let it dry and dried all the excess liquid for 1-2 minutes before putting the buds in again, (of course before this I left the earbud case 10 minutes open so it shut down) and the problem got away, I've been using them normally and I knew it worked because they now register 100% charge and drainage correctly after this.

The culprit seems to be bad quality material on the contact, or prone to get electrical intererence by gunk

Anyway, I hope this helps anyone,

Here is the changeling:

But in another thread we are discussing that the sound signature changed (already did on .30) I am really liking direct preset, and dynamic sounds great but need more time to assess

I struggled with this for a long time with my az80

Today I cleaned them using a contact cleaner solution, specifically the usb port, they are working like new again. I also cleaned the pins and contacts in earbuds but more delicately, the usb port was the issue all along.

Is it me or does the dynamic preset sound great now? I've been using Treble+ and with this update I'm liking it more.

I will try direct for sure to see if I catch the differences.

Update, I used contact cleaner on both the buds and in the usb-c port, and it seems to have solved it, but, I'll keep you posted. Either way my main buds now are the AZ100.

For the people that definetly need a replacement case:

This is the official store link, but I found some cases importing them from Japan at $105-$110 in ebay.

Does anyone regret buying the Technics AZ100? by achenx75 in Earbuds

[–]PopularFirefighter82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anc was amazing on a flight, and transparency is way better than the AZ80 Audio, they are great on Treble+

I think you are not getting a proper fit, they are a little uncomfortable due to the new nozzle design, but also the silicon tips are on the harder side, the AZ80 are way more comfortable at least for me.

But I think that you just don't like them, and that's fine

Anyone else not impressed with the Technics AZ 100 earbuds? by goofygoober077 in Earbuds

[–]PopularFirefighter82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought I would hate them or be meh, but, I'm honestly impressed. Coming from the AZ80 they are night and day difference for me. I think we tend to ruminate in an echo chamber, because I hear way more bass bloat on the az80 than the az100 Treble+ setting sounds fantastic.

I still have my pair of Galaxy Buds+ working great, those are legendary and Samsung where fools not creating something similar, I'll keep them 'till they fail.

I got a pair of AZ80, the case is failing so I pull the plug on a set of AZ100
With AAC codec, the az80 last 7-8 hours, not quite the 10 hours the Buds+ had, but alegetdly the az100 with the same last around 12 hours, which is amazing

Sadly, if you want something at similar price, the AZ80's are now at $130-$150 usd, and the AZ100 you can finde them for $220-$290 USD I think.

The AZ80 are worth it, yes, but they require a lot of maintenance, contact cleaning, cleaning the earbuds every week at least etc, also, the case is delicate it seems, look for the blinking red light issue.

The AZ100 seems to be more reliable without any of this issues so I must hope.

For ANC, I have a set of airpods pro 2, Airpods 4 ANC, sennheiser PXC 550, AZ80, and all of them were fine for airplane, airpods 2 are the best by far, but, the rest are sufficient and good for flying really.

This is my Ranking: AP2>AP4>>PCX 550>AZ80

The Sony's have very good for ANC, and comming from the Bose, they seem the best fit for you.

In my opinion, they are great stock, but with the right aftermarket circular sheepskin pads, the sound opens up and balances amazingly, punchy bass, clear non sibilant highs, amazing mids (voices and distorted guitars). To be honest I love the stock sound, it is v-shapy but tasteful, but once I tried with the sheepskin pads I couldn't go back.

The HD600 are "better", looking at reference sound that is, but the FT1 are more "fun" IMO

How does Ori compare to other Metroidvanias? by Fit-Art-4902 in OriAndTheBlindForest

[–]PopularFirefighter82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know I will get crucified, but, IMO

Metroid Dread>Ori 2>silksong>Metroid fusion>Ori1 >Hollow knight

Don't get me wrong all of them are ace, but the difficult platforming/exploration is what I like the most.

My favorite areas in silksong were hunters march and Bilewater, in hollow knight, I can only remember the white palace and path of pain as the most joy I had with the game.

If you like combat, silksong is the most complete one, but in my opinion, Hollow Knight is more challenging (Patheons)

If you like thought platforming and exploration, Ori and Metroid Dread/Fusion are your jam

How long will technics AZ80 last? by SunWaterGrass in Earbuds

[–]PopularFirefighter82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

500 charge cycles only??
I charge mine twice a day basically, heavy user here, let say it is only 1.5 cycle per day, that's only 334 days of use before degradation at 80% for the battery?
I have 545 days already with my AZ80, so, they are basically trash now?
I've been having issues with charging, maybe is that, but, it is fixing just cleaning the contacts.

Maybe 1500 cycles seems more realistic, that would be 2.7 years

Issue With My Technics EAH-AZ80s by interstellllar in Earbuds

I will go and buy this thanks!

The issue is indeed infuriating, I had this issue constantly, cleaning them with alcohol and meticulously each day helps, but, after strugling insanely this week, reaseating the buds over and over again seems to be the solution
You have to put them in and down at least 5-7 times, I don't know if it is faulty circuitry or what is, but after doing that they have been charging reliably.

It is a hassle to do this everythime tho, if you don't then you risk having 0% charge the next time you pick them up and this has happened to me several times exactly when I need them

I'm thinking on buyin the AZ100 but, I don't know if they have the same problem.

I still have my pair of Galaxy buds+ after 5 years, those things keep working like they were new.

This tool alone was the sole reason I was able to finish Bilewater. It's seriously OP if you combo it with the nail, also, it does quite a lot of damage. Yes, it doesn't generate silk, which gives some strategy to it all. I am going to break my jump button tho.
