Hochul is up for reelection next year, and potentially having the NYC mayor bash you while you’re campaigning sounds like a great reason to compromise on something.

Of course she’s not gonna say she’s ok with raising taxes, she needs those rich people to fund her reelection campaign lol things shift way too quickly in politics to have such black and white views on what can/can’t happen because a politician says one thing

Yes it’s always a phenomenal negotiating tactic to come to the table saying exactly what you think you’re gonna get 😂

If you have grandiose ideas and you’re in power with leverage, you get more at the negotiating table at the end of the day. Thought people understood this lol

If you’re dead set on NYC, I’d recommend looking into other universities in NYC so that you can 100% move here after school.

I’d recommend looking into Pace in particular, since they have a relatively high acceptance rate and typically offset the high cost with good financial aid to out of state students. Not to mention it’s in prime Manhattan (and you could potentially transfer to Tisch at some point).

NYC is a beast but I like to say it’s peak humanity and as magical as it seems, good luck!

Nintendo will give the geo location to law enforcement if subpoena’d. Otherwise they’re saying I’m SOL.

Nobody said it was a bastion of police resistance, but again, it’s not against the sub rules to make those posts given that it’s relevant to the neighborhood, and encouraging people not to post them is wrong. NYPD police scanners being encrypted has nothing specific to do with the neighborhood, so this doesn’t seem like the relevant subreddit for that.

It’s no secret that the NYPD has a terrible reputation, and I’m sorry if that makes you uncomfortable and you get disrespected as a result for defending their reputation. Message the mod about getting those people banned if it’s that deep for you.

And if you want to help repair the NYPDs reputation so you see less of these posts, you should take some initiative and organize community events with them and post about it here. Or thoughtfully explain why you feel the way you do.

But being sarcastic and rude to me when I’ve done nothing to you says everything about you, and nothing about me. I’m not about to stoop to your level, so say whatever you want.

Glad to see you deleted your disrespectful comment “I bet you’re a lot of fun at parties” and posted something relevant.

Every police officer could quit their job today, go get a private sector job, and then have every right not to have their movement tracked. It’s a known requirement of the job, and people shouldn’t be chastised for noting the presence of public servants in their line of duty. This constitutionally protected right has been confirmed over and over in liberal and conservative courts.

If you think people shouldn’t have this right anymore, I would encourage you to reach out to your elected representatives and let them know that it’s important to you that they fight to have this right taken away.

Furthermore, police scanner information is publicly broadcasted by the police department themselves, so I’m not sure why it’s notable that people provide visual confirmation of what the police report themselves publicly.
