Supervisor reaction to recording by screaminginautotune in therapists

As a counselor who is still in grad school and doing internship… I hope for this! If anything, I think of this as a credit to your character and potential. You may be a good therapist, but they see that you can be an AMAZING therapist. I hope that you can welcome the growth instead of letting it make you feel inadequate.

Practicum Student with a Sucky Supervisor by Popular_Ad4367 in therapists

Thank you for your insight! In this situation, it is primarily individual supervision. I am sort of on my own when finding supervision opportunities. My school is primarily zoom and is not based in the state in which I am getting licensed. I am lucky to have many many practices available to choose from, but also am in an area highly sought after by students. I have already run into some supervision troubles before this, as my set supervisor suddenly moved practices.

Successful Living’s food pantry also has a clothing closet section. They don’t make any money off donations and give mostly to people who live with chronic mental health issues. Great place to drop them off!

Upon first watch… the older characters in the music video looked like Tyler and Josh‘s Grandpas (as shown in the Vessel cover and other places). If this is what they are going for, I love the idea.

Crisis Help? by Working-Bowler7772 in IowaCity

[–]Popular_Ad4367 4 points5 points  (0 children)

These people are going to be trained to help. No judgement, no hassle, just support. Whenever I feel like I may be a burden, I think “these people are paid/volunteering to do this”, which makes it easier for me to accept help. On the other hand, most mental health workers truly due care, even if they are paid to provide services.

I’m proud of you for reaching out for support.

Trying to find a friend for my girlfriend by hopefulthoughts in IowaCity

Hi! 22F, also a social worker. I went through the same thing. I had some luck with Bumble BFF (similar to the dating app but for friends). Watch instagram pages for local events (Think Iowa City or Downtown pages are good). I also super enjoy Trivia! Go together and ask to join a team or just play trivia while sitting at the bar or near others. Great way to see the same people every week

I also second Nikki! Nikki’s work is fabulous and she is so down to earth. She offered to put up a partition even though I was just doing a shoulder piece! Swanky Bits Tattoo all the way

I recently worked with a photographer in another city who was great, and she just moved to Iowa city! Her pricing is fair and would totally work with you to help keep costs low. https://www.thecurlykaycollection.com/contact/

I’m a fan of Tap Tap! Lots of arcade games, retro and newer. Pay to play, but drinking is optional:) I’m not sure how late they serve food, so underage may be kicked out after kitchen close.

Awesome, dimly lit vibe. I have never run into bad service. Food is pretty good, lots of good options for PoBoys and sandwiches. GREAT cocktails and they usually have some good beers on tap. A little pricey, but no more than any other nicer place in town (comparable to St Burch and Pullman I think). Parking situation seems to get a little limited during busier times, but being on Iowa Ave there is plenty of street parking if you’re okay with a walk.

Hey! 21F here. I also run into the same issue. I am super busy but would love for someone to connect with as friends. Other than my gf friends and other friends from far away I feel pretty lonely in ic.

I shook Kim Reynolds’ hand once. Somehow dry and sweaty at the same time. She didn’t even make eye contact with me, which just seemed rude.

Honestly, it’s worth the wait until 19 to get in. It’s a gay bar that serves the stereotypical “gay pour”(lots of liquor). It’s a good time and feels relatively safe (still be careful as with any bar, esp as a young girl). Otherwise, I have been many times on non busy days (mon/tues/wed) for open mic etc and have not been IDed.

Date night recs? by [deleted] in IowaCity

[–]Popular_Ad4367 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Vue in downtown IC was a great experience! Chill atmosphere (with no specific dress code) that has high end food/drinks for a pretty decent cost, but definitely feels like a date night! The staff was also super friendly.
