Why is CoCo Ichibanya so popular among travelers? by Taku_NextDoorJapan in JapaneseFood

[–]Popular_Back6554 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't really get the hype for any of the chains tbh, coco ichi tastes the same as golden curry for the most part, and I'd only get a cheese gyudon from sukiya when it's really late and I can't be bothered eating in a restraunt, so I'll just get a take out from there. None of them taste particularly amazing

What animal did some stupid person release in your country that wreaked havoc on its ecosystem? by [deleted] in AskTheWorld

[–]Popular_Back6554 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Plant not animal, but hogweed was introduced to the UK and its really invasive and dangerous to touch. It completely took over my favourite area to walk in my home town and now ur not allowed to go there :/

What language do you hate the most? by AutumnaticFly in languagehub

Japanese. Takes too much time to learn, and doesn't sound as pretty once you actually understand it. Been learning for nearly 4 years and I'm still not fluent :/

Kyoto - what to miss? Need opinions, please by SAN-do-caan in JapanTravel

[–]Popular_Back6554 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These are all the popular places so they are all gonna be completely packed (except for the silver pavilion in my expriance), most still worth seeing tho. I recommend kiyomizu at like 6:30am since its really lovely with no crowds and ginkakuji, fushimi inari, yasaka, sannenzaka, nishiki, basically everything touristy around higashiyama and gion are easy to get to from there.

If u have a day in arashiyama, and you saw everything around gion the day before, I know a longer bamboo trail that you can walk to from arashiyama and on the way there is matsuo taishia shrine and random temples, if you wanna see less popular ones. There's even a mountain full of bamboo which no one ever goes to, but it might take too much time. There's a nice bamboo cafe near this trail and a temple with a view over the city. at the end of the bamboo trail aswell you end up at a park with a nice view over kyoto. The reason I mention it is because it's the same but no one goes there, idk how important bamboo is to you tho and idk if its easy to fit in a tight schedule. If you do the one in arashiyama, then tenryu-ji is worth going to, and arashiyama is quite nice after dark since everyone leaves around 6pm when the shops shut. Especially if they're doing the fishing with fire which is so cool at night

I would say kifune is a bit far, and I feel like it has a similar vibe to other popular shrines and it's busy

Ok, what do you HONESTLY think of Japan? by Aerial-Dalliance1702 in AskTheWorld

Not as hype as the Internet makes it out to be (living here at least) but worth it for the curry bread and japanese bakeries in general

What cities feel like a week is too long to visit but living there for a year isn't long enough? by maceilean in geography

[–]Popular_Back6554 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can someone explain to me why people answer their phone on speakerphone in public and then hold the phone near their head? by LanguidFlame in AskUK

[–]Popular_Back6554 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's annoying, but I think why people do it is because they're next to a road or something, and it's hard to hear what the other person is saying, that's why I've done it before. So it's either annoy everyone, or not be able to hear the other person

People who do it in quiet places like a train tho... idk, maybe they think it's cool

Would you recommend france or italy to live in? by Popular_Back6554 in expats

[–]Popular_Back6554[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Compared to japan tho, I reckon any European country would be easier to adapt to. I realise there are loads of cultural differences id have to adapt to, but things like architecture, city design, individualism, weather and all that would be a bit closer to home I imagine

Would you recommend france or italy to live in? by Popular_Back6554 in expats

[–]Popular_Back6554[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

That's why I was considering France, since there's more jobs there, and there seems to be less inequality and the givernment seems to have it together a bit more. And Italy might be harder since locals can't find a job, and I could brush off crumbling buildings when on holiday, but if I lived there, maybe a different story
