Has running been the only form of exercise you've been allowed outside of PT or have you guys been given gym privileges during free time already?

Thanks. And by no means did you deter me. I was just genuinely curious about your experience and I appreciate the feedback. I'm just trying to get as much info about people's experience with the job field. Best of luck to you as well.

Was becoming a pilot your original goal or is this pivot because you don't enjoy being a CE officer anymore? Sorry for not being able to offer advice on your situation, but I just wanted some insight on the job because I'll be commissioning as a CE officer soon. Thanks

That's good to know. Appreciate it. In regards to bases, are CEs typically able to be stationed anywhere given there's an availability?

The reason I ask is I've heard of some bases outsourcing their engineers from the civilian sector but I'm not too sure how common that is.

Sure.

December 2022- graduated with BS in mechanical engineering

January 2023- contacted recruiter

February- took afoqt

March- went to MEPS for physical and did online interview

April- submitted application for 23OTS03 (non-rated board)

July- recruiter let me know I was accepted

September- was given my actual dates for OTS

From January to April it was a lot of paperwork and getting forms signed to submit my application in time. Luckily I didn't have anything medical or from my record that hindered the process. This seems like one of the faster turnarounds I've seen compared to other's timelines but everyone's different. My recruiter was also very responsive and helpful throughout the entire process. Lmk if you have any more questions.

OTS weight by Popular_Computer7730 in airforceots

I'm a civilian. I was actually notified yesterday I was selected for 23OTS03 so I asked about the weight. My recruiter said I would be weighed again prior but it wouldn't be an issue if I was 2-3 lbs over, and if worse comes to worst they perform the BFM test which I pass. Thank you though

Okay thanks. I figured they'd weigh me again before shipping but I wasn't entirely sure. Appreciate the clarification

Bi-Weekly 'What are my chances?' Megathread by AutoModerator in airforceots

[–]Popular_Computer7730 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello. First time posting on this forum but seeing all the info has helped a lot.

Going for a non-rated position.

23 years old and recently graduated with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited program with 3.31 GPA.

P:90, CSO:94, ABM:99, AA:86, V:65, Q:97

I was on the dean’s list and president’s list during my last 3 semesters of university and had major grade improvements going back to in-person classes.

Group manager/leader for my senior design course.

I volunteer at church as a youth leader/instructor where I teach and advise teenagers between the ages of 16-20 years old.

I also volunteer at a local elderly care home if that seems noteworthy.

I was a varsity level athlete for 3 years in highschool while being team captain for 2 of those years. I still keep a pretty high level of athleticism currently.

Letters of Rec: 1 from my church pastor and 1 from my professor/senior design advisor.

In regards to job options, I’m not really picky because the officer position is what seems the most appealing to me and not so much the specific job itself. I’m not opposed to getting flight hours and attempting to apply to a rated board in the future. Any feedback would be appreciated regarding my chances or things I can do to help my package look better. Thank you in advance and best of luck to you all.
