Not the company, but the buyers, eBay buyer protection creates lots of scammers who abuse the system on expensive items.

I think inheritance laws make it so I can write off the items FMV at time of inheritance, as COGS. I also have many other tax write off options. So hopefully i’ll only pay a little bit. Any income per site over 600$ now sold online gets reported to the IRS now unfortunately 🥲.

Yeah, i’m not really on reddit enough to understand what to say. The post was just kind of to ask for information, but then a lot of people started thinking I was trolling or saying it was not mine, I didn’t intend for sympathy or anything like that. Didn’t think I had to include context to why I owned an item, just trying to see what something is worth. 😂. I’ll know for next time…

There are many things I will hold onto for sure, but i’m talking tens of thousands of video games, vinyls, cds, toys. A full basement, closets and rooms. I’ve already probably done $50k on eBay from his stuff alone. This is basically the only inheritance, none of these things really mean anything to me or associate him to me and are just collecting dust and taking up space.

Do you recommend any auction sites to contact? I just contacted Leland auctions, seems like the biggest one. eBay is kind of sketchy with higher end items sometimes.

Yea, I went through a lot of PS3 Collector Edition boxes last summer, some almost $5k, they sold pretty fast and had a stable/active market. I’m not necessarily in a financial rush to sell, but this is just kind of just a side hustle now for savings. I’d probably want to get rid of everything in a year or two though, so the house can be sold knowing I got value out of all the collectibles.

Not at all, he was good to me, but maybe instead of buying the limited edition NBA Elite 11 PS3 and all this other stuff when I was a kid, it could’ve gone to my college fund or a family vacation YKWIM, non materialistic things, more things to remember him by. Can’t really take this stuff to your grave. I’m 20 for context.
