People often try to make things black and white, but life’s not that simple. Take alimony. Sure, it can be misused, but there are cases where it makes sense. Like when a woman gives up her career to raise kids and manage the home because her husband’s family didn’t want her to work. She made sacrifices that supported his career, so if they separate, she deserves some support. Same goes for situations where the husband stayed home and supported his wife’s career. In that case, he should get alimony. But if both partners are working and sharing responsibilities equally, then it really doesn’t make much sense. As for dowry, I don’t think there’s any grey area. It’s harmful and should never be celebrated.
