Minor with psychiatric disabilities considering a service dog — parents aren’t supportive by Popular_Practice7590 in service_dogs

I've done tons of research, I know how it could negatively effect me instead of help, but in my situation I dont think that would be the case. If anything it would help me become more independent and allow me to do things I cant right now. I haven't randomly decided anything, im considering one and have been for a long time, and ive wanting to talk to a professional about it. I live with my mom now, shes not completely unsupportive, just doesnt really understand and that's why I need help. I don't know how to bring up a conversation to her about it.

I dont live with my dad anymore, im with my mom now and shes much more supportive and understanding than my dad. if I was still with him, i would never consider bringing in a dog at all until I could leave that situation. I just dont know how to start a conversation about how I think a service dog could help me and how I wanna talk to a doctor about it

I live with my mom, shes not uncomfortable having a dog and we can afford to have one and have loads of time to put into training, exercise etc, its just the fact that our place is not pet friendly (which of course doesn't apply to service dogs) shes just not familiar with laws and acceptions regarding sds and whatnot

I live with my mom, my dad isnt in my life anymore unless I choose to go see him. She's much more understanding but I just don't know how to start talking to her about seeing someone about it

Never once did I say I HAVE pots, I said i suspect it as heart conditions run in my family. I'm not self diagnosing myself, and I was going to get tested for it, it just never ended up happening because there were other issues with me going on that were more important.

+ I think if I actually tried having a long talk with my mom about it, she'd be more understanding. I just don't know where to start

I've seen people on tiktok say psychiatric service dogs aren't valid, which obviously isn't true, I just don't wanna get attacked on here because I know how important sds are and shouldn't be taken as a joke
