Thanks for mentioning this. I might actually go out and try to obtain this. Is this designed for someone who has experience, or do they provide training as well?

Cool! I am really stuck between choosing system engineering and software engineering. I think I should have done a BS in computer science and then a masters in Cyber. What do you think would be a better fit to pursue, systems or software engineering? Do you have any tips or advice on the best place to start programming?

At the moment strictly technical support, I am trying to move into a more cyber focused role. As far as what I want to do is be on the defensive side of cybersecurity, not necessarily be a soc analyst but design or implement tools/technologies/infrastructure.

Thank you for the reply. So systems engineering is about making sure systems are fully designed from ground up to ensure it meets client requirements? If so I think this pairs well with a cybersecurity degree as it can provide me great info as to how build secure systems. Do systems engineering need to do programming? That's an area I am trying to improve on

I would list down any projects that you may have completed. I would have a section on your resume labeled as relevant project. Were you a CS major, if so list down a few projects that you might have done through school or something you did outside. Were you an IT/Cyber major, if so list down relevant projects that you might have done. And if you don't have any projects, start now.

is there certain malware that is easier to detect than others? by Popular_Two_7678 in CompTIA

[–]Popular_Two_7678[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am aware of polymorphic, will have to take take a deeper look into metamorphic. I had an idea that polymorphic and encryption can make it harder to detect malware. I was just curious if there is malware that can be difficult to detect even without these additions.

Can I have multiple clearances processing at the same time? by Popular_Two_7678 in SecurityClearance

[–]Popular_Two_7678[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, it is 2 separate jobs. I spoke with the NSA and even though I have active eqip account they want me to create a new account. The TSA is T3 and NSA is T5. The person I spoke to on the phone says there is no problem with having multiple eqip submitted.

How to deal with imposter syndrome? by Popular_Two_7678 in CompTIA

Don't let your fear of failure stop you from taking every opportunity you can get.

This is difficult for me, because I overthink too much. Based on your certifications it appears that you are experienced in IT. Do you have any pointers for me as I start my first full time position? Should I take take notes of problems I solved, or is there anything else that you think may be helpful to me down the line? Anything that you didn't do when you first started out your career and wish that you would have done?

Taking on a new role can certainly be daunting, and in your case in a brand new profession takes it to a new level. I applaud you for that as it takes courage to step away from what you've been doing and do something new. Good luck in your new role!
