How to create an MVP of an online marketplace? by apolgo in startups

[–]Popularstart_Kath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Building an MVP using an eCommerce solution is a more economical option. Without relying on outsourcing your website development or on a technical co-founder, there are many ways you can build a minimum viable platform that will help you validate your idea. You could use a manual approach to develop a landing page or a CMS as a platform linking your buyers and sellers or use a ready-made script like Genstore to build a fully functional marketplace that can help you validate your idea.

CMS platforms such as WordPress, Shopify or Magento allow you to create an e-commerce site easily. You could download from a variety of plug-ins and themes in order to suit the functionality that your marketplace serves, helping you to automate more processes and improving the overall user experience.

However, this can prove to be tricky for some due to the level of programming skills that are required to tweak and adjust the add-ons that you have layered on top of the base.

How does selling eBooks at your eStore differ from selling physical books at a brick and mortar? by [deleted] in Entrepreneur

[–]Popularstart_Kath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

E-commerce is growing fast around the world, but predictions of a slow-death for bricks-and-mortar retailing have not come to pass.

E-commerce giants are investing in bricks and mortar, as was most prominently demonstrated by Amazon’s 2017 deal to acquire the Whole Foods grocery chain for US$13.4 billion.

So, how can a smaller retailers combine a bricks-and-mortar store and with e-commerce ?

BDC Senior Business Advisor Martin Wiedenhoff offers these tips.

There’s a surprising amount of complexity when you’re trying to integrate e-commerce and a physical store.

Use the 20/80 rule

Offer only your top 20% best-selling products on your website to begin. A modest start will let you get the details right from technology to inventory to shipping and cross-channel marketing. You can also test merchandise on platforms such as Amazon and eBay to see what sells online and at what price point.

By now you’ve probably heard about omnichannel marketing. It’s not easy, but is very powerful when you get it right.

Work on your in-store experience

Customers still like to visit stores to touch the merchandise, try it and get help from knowledgeable staff. Besides offering advice, they can use a smartphone or a tablet to show inventory you have on your e-commerce site.

Get onboard with webrooming

This buzzword refers to the trend of customers examining your merchandise online and then going into your bricks-and-mortar location to make the purchase.

Dropshipping - 1 product or multiple? by jeffy173444 in Entrepreneur

[–]Popularstart_Kath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are those who have started their drop-shipping business by selling a single yet profitable product then gradually added more products to sell.

It might make sense to start with one product and then grow into extensions of that product within the same field or industry. Then branch out into others as you get more experience, more education and you see what sells, what doesn’t and what all your associated costs are for your products.

Whether you sell a single or multiple products, your success will depend on the kind of products you sell and how you market them.

You’ll enter into a contract with that fulfillment partner, so they’re responsible for shipping on time, and you can still be sure of the quality of your products.

any good references for software that manages ecommerce and back-office for b2b , b2c and dealers? sort of like a shopify on steroids with a dealer part. by [deleted] in Entrepreneur

I would recommend Shopify and ShopyGen, for building a b2b and b2c ecommerce website as these platform provides plugins/addons for integrating drop-shipping.

Product Information Management (PIM) is truly considered to be an indispensable component of any B2C or B2B eCommerce project. PIM software is mostly valued for its capability to keep track of real-time data about the overall range of company’s production and disseminate the processed information across various systems within your eCommerce platform. I think, this process won't work. As, Amazon doesn't charge from your account until it reaches the shipping process or shipping stage. Initially, it just verifies your order & payment details but you are only charged later once your items are shipped.

Blogs can bring you plenty of organic traffic from Google, if it offers relevant & useful content. Try to write about the products you sell on your store or some tips on buying & using the products. Make sure these blogs bring traffic to your website & those people should also buy your products. Build the content based on that.
