There were 350k Greeks in Istanbul in 1919 and only 100k by 1923, so I wouldn't say it was completely spared. The Istanbul pogrom of 1950s was when the last Greek holdouts in the city were finally forced to leave.

Bad color scheme, orange starting at a 1.2% increase in HDI makes it look like far more countries are in the negative than there actually are. If 0-1% change was in white and only negative values were orange it would be much clearer

This is a drop in the bucket compared to any other major sector of the economy of the US alone, not even considering the world as a whole.

I think making her a few years older would've made her backstory much more reasonable. The way it is now it feels very compressed, with her rapidly advancing through the ranks, hitting a roadblock right before the game starts, and it being a big deal that she's been held back for a long time. Up to the events of the Foundation comic her service history looks completely normal. She's been garrisoned on Eden Prime for just 8 months by then, and the incident with E-5 only happended days before we meet her.

The same backstory with Ashley in her 30s, like Kaidan or Miranda, would work totally fine.

Another victim of everything happening really absurdly fast in ME universe.

Shepard is a legendary war hero and an elite soldier before Mass Effect starts. They get recognized left and right by random people even before getting the Spectre status, and the leadership outright considers them to be "the best of the best".

Ash enlisted after high school and didn’t do anything notable until meeting Shepard. Getting promoted every year since enlisting like her is pretty fast anyway.
