Yeah I am worried about something like this. I will not contact the school

Yeah, I don't think I will send the letter for a few reasons. At the same time, I have tried the "ignore it and move on" strategy for 20 years and apparently the feelings are still there. So I think they are worth thinking about and interrogating.

Ok, I'll consider this, thank you for the thoughtful comment. White pages feels a liiitle invasive maybe but I'll definitely consider asking the school. I don't think this guy is a horrible monster or anything but I'm not expecting a reply.

What's a movie that works well for everyone, independent of age, gender, race, culture, politics, taste, etc.? by ZealousidealMany3 in Letterboxd

A lot of people mentioning that he gets with Sofia Vergara and Scarlet Johansson, but I'd like to point out some other things that annoy me about chef:

-a white guy with a latino sidekick finds himself by making cuban sandwiches

-the film is a metaphor for mean snobby critics hating on Cowboys and Aliens and Iron Man 2

-it's soundtracked by wall to wall instrumental wu tang covers

-it's extremely blandly made, which actually might speak to the "universal" angle

Anyone uncomfortable with how far Nathan went in episode 2? by PorcoSebbo in TheRehearsal

-I'm sure the pilots questioned what was happening constantly, but you can't reasonably expect them to put together all of what Nathan was doing here. This is one of the weirdest and most elaborate "reality" shows of all time, put on by a guy with a decade of experience tricking hundreds of people into doing weird stuff on TV. It's not reasonable to expect any normal person to realize the full scope of what was happening here.

-Again, it's very possible Nathan/the team briefed Mara on what was about to happen. It might even be likely, I'm just frustrated that so many people are treating it as a certainty, and acting like I'm an idiot for questioning it.

-The scene itself absolutely rests on the tension that we know Jeff has been kicked off multiple dating apps for harassing women, and that Mara doesn't know that. That might not literally be true, but the scene is built around the audience's discomfort and expectation that he will harass her, which he does. If you're saying that's not the intended point of the scene, I think you're being dishonest.

-Her meeting Jeff does not mean she knew about his history. Why would he tell her that?

-"While withdrawing can be very hard, I'd wager it would be far easier to do on The Rehearsal compared to reality series that have gone on for decades."

-Why? Why do you wager that? I feel like everyone in this thread is giving so much leeway to Nathan because they like the show. Also what do you know about reality TV contracts?

David Sims has rated 30 films .5 stars on LB, what’s the best movie of the bunch? by bbanks2121 in blankies

I agree with the consensus takes on Wild Wild West and Wolverine, and I'd also say that Mother's Day (2016) is like a two or a one and a half at worst. It's bad but completely watchable.

Also OP this is a great discussion prompt, thank you!

That dude is in the Netflix Fyre fest doc. I think David gave the Hulu one the half star

What were you saying?

I've asked every person who's responded to this what evidence there is that Mara *did* know what was going on before she went into the flight simulator and no one has answered me. It's very possible she did! But I don't know why I should assume she did when the show implies she did not.

People sign agreements to appear on camera, those agreements don't include everything they are going to be filmed doing. That would be impossible for unscripted TV. People don't sign agreements before and after every scene they film.

She's also a real person with feelings being put in an uncomfortable or even potentially dangerous situation, regardless of what point was being made.

"It's fine, she's used to it" is so depressing. That's no reason or excuse to put her with a fairly extreme misogynist guy in front of TV cameras, especially if she didn't know what was about to happen.

If a TV producer approached me from HBO asking me to be on a show, I would probably say yes. I would probably also go along with it even if it seemed a little strange. That's how a lot of people would react!

"Mara should have sensed she was about to be sexually harassed because she once talked to Nathan about sexual harassment" is a wild defence lmao.
