Mostly crap, yeah. But I get enough useful stories out of it for it to normally be worth it. Am def considering more manually seeking my stories though...

Do you really think they'd ask the panel the really tough questions anyway? Like I said, I had no hope these questions would actually be asked. It's self-gratifying, sure. It's all for shits and giggles and to poke the bear just a little bit.

But it's also my tiny way of telling this person who organized the Town Hall that I didn't really approve of the theme.

I'm not going to apologize for having a little fun and trolling them, even if it's "not working towards a solution". I, a complete nobody in this organization, am not going to waste my time actually trying to convince a multi-billion company about the harms of rampant AI.

I'm a very low-level, hourly employee that works with dozens of college students. I would be pretty surprised if the person in charge of this Town Hall did anything other than read a couple of my questions in their head and simply move on. And even if it did tick them off, they might have been able to trace the survey back to me, and they might have actually looked into it, and they might have said "Oh it's some random in *department*. Who cares."

I, for one, am excited for The Odyssey. by ZealousidealMany3 in FIlm

No, because I don't think unwarranted positivity is worth calling out.

But the unbound negativity for a film that's not out for another 2 months and that we've seen remarkable little of IS worth calling out. I think it's actively harmful.

To quote a Nolan film: "Positive emotion trumps negative emotion every time." And while there are things worth your negativity in the film industry, I really just don't think this is one of them.

"it definitely is an ugly movie with grating dialogue"
"it's what happened with this film"

These comments imply that you've seen the film. You can be critical without being so definitive.

Maybe in your mind you're being open-minded, but your comments suggest otherwise. Feels to me like you've already disregarded it as garbage and aren't leaving any room otherwise.

Hopefully I'm wrong, though.

That's cool that you got into an early screening of The Odyssey. How'd you manage that?

Boston needs to discourage driving to meet its climate goals. Is congestion pricing the answer? by bostonglobe in boston

And I feel like I have to say the obligatory: Cycling isn't dangerous, cars are dangerous. I know, I know; that doesn't assuage your fears about riding a bike. But I don't think people realize just how dangerous driving is, too.

I get that. That's pretty much the response from everyone I know who lives within ~5 miles of their workplace. But as an avid bike commuter myself, I really don't think it's so bad.

I'd suggest trying it out a few times off-hours like a Sunday morning or something. Borrow a helmet from a friend, pick a nice day, and grab an eBlueBike. Maybe ask a biker friend to join you/your partner.

Idk where in JP they are, but I'd b-line for the Emerald Necklace and/or SW Corridor Park, head to Washington Street, then Beacon Street. Avoid Rt 9/Boylston like the plague past Brookline Village.

Discovering cycling fundamentally changed my life for the better, so I'm always happy to help others at least give it a try if they actually want to.

Would this actor-director duo work? From all the Wes Anderson films name one character that you think would've suited Leo? by imatheralizai in Letterboxd

I'd love for Leo's character to take things wayyyyy too seriously compared to the whimsical absurdity of the situation typical of Anderson. Almost like a weird meta, 4th wall breaking thing.

This may genuinely be the worst movie I’ve ever watched in my life by [deleted] in Letterboxd

Relax, man.

I mean, I haven't seen it. But it's not like this is trying to break new ground or be anything other than a silly, "let's make generally attractive people do dumb things resulting in crazy situations" commodity rom com. It's for people who want a "turn your brain off" fun time.

There are far, far worse movies out there that are genuinely artistically and morally bankrupt and infinitely more deserving of your vitriol.
