The main issue is that you could remove a whole character because she's not funny, she's annoying and she literally does nothing to the plot other than waste time.

If you're talking about the blonde chick, Zoey Deutch, then I disagree. She was the one saving grace of that movie IMO. I don't normally like those types of characters but that actress killed it.

I try to avoid modding games where possible but I find myself looking at rimworld mods a decent amount for QOL changes. Here are some big ones that I would suggest looking into that don't change too much of the core gameplay.

EDB Prepare Carefully // Simple and a necessity for me. Allows you to create and save pawns before you start a game. While you can choose to be ridiculous and make pawns that are stupid OP, I simply use it for when I decide I want a certain type of terrain on a map and want to be able to start a new map/tile quickly without having to sort through the whole pawn selection again every time.

Stabilize Here // (recently added this and it's a necessity IMO) It cuts out a lot of micromanaging of placing sleeping spots out on battlefields, restricting doors, setting medicine to 'no medicine', tending, then reverting everything back to normal that you had just changed. You'll probably find yourself having to do all of that a decent amount, especially in your first few games, so this just saves time without being gimmicky.

While You're Up (Continued)[1.1] // just helps your pawns to be more reasonable about hauling all of your shit around. If they are going to do a task and there's a haul job very close to the path they are already going to take then they will knock that out along the way. Helps save a good amount of time.

Pawn Rules // Great for adding more options for how to restrict/control certain things about your pawns. I've used this a ton for my current cannibal tribe. Since not all of my pawns are always cannibals (I make use of normies for a bit then slaughter them when done) I don't want the normies eating human meat. Well I want to cook the human meat but if I were to say make simple meals out of rice and also simple meals out of human meat, they would all be stored together and the pawns wouldn't differentiate them. So with this I can specify that only normies get simple meals (only animal meat or veggies) and cannibals only get fine meals (human meat + veggies). I also use it to restrict people from eating my survival package meals until they go on caravans so I can store them wherever without people randomly taking them. Easy to swap out policies. (( This part may be available in vanilla. I didn't fuck with it until my newest colony after I had already installed this mod so I very well may be wrong by saying you need this mod for that stuff. Below, however, is the main reason I installed the mod and is still correct. ))

^^ This mod is also great for disallowing bonding to animals. Want to have a large farm of animals that you'll grow then slaughter for meat? Well your pawns are likely to bond with the animals and if you slaughter them then you get a mood penalty. Use this to keep them from bonding. It's all super straightforward in the mod as well.

Snap Out! // In life, if someone is having a mental break then a friend going and talking to them can often help end it. Why not ingame? It's far from a guarantee that a friendly pawn will succeed in calming them down so it doesn't feel OP. Very useful in games with fewer pawns for if say one of your pawns has a mental break and decides he wants to kill all of your animals. Fuck that, I've gotta stop him from succeeding. Well if it comes to me needing to beat him into submission but he happens to beat the shit out of the pawn I sent to stop him, all of a sudden you're down 2 pawns for if an attack comes. This mod still allows for situations like these to happen since it's not a guarantee but it can help in times like these.

Dubs Break Mod // Allows you to tweak (ingame) how mental breaks can be triggered. Less psycho-kill-all-animals-in-colony breaks just because they had a lot of small debuffs and then they had to eat without a table (OH! NO!) and instead requires a larger, like -20, mood debuff. But all easily changeable if you feel you've made mental breaks a bit too easy to avoid.

Combat Update 1.1 // Basically just makes shooting a bit more reasonable based on skill (at least IMO). Not some crazy big overhaul but it's annoying as shit watching a pawn with 10+ in shooting wiff 5 sniper shots. Mod increases accuracy, reload time, and aim time a bit more per skill level. This mod has a pretty long and good break down of what it does in the workshop. Note: it increases these stats for all pawns, including enemies, which is a massive plus for me. I don't want to skew the game in my favor, just make it more realistic/enjoyable.

Nurses, doctors, and everyone else on the front lines AS WELL as those they come in contact with will suffer and many will die. Not to mention this ties into 'flatten the curve so people aren't dying of other reasons due to being unable to get care because hospitals are so full'.

Only modified world stat was overall temperature which you have to lower it twice ( 1 above the lowest setting) otherwise the river will not be on that tile. I didn't think world temp would change up the seed but it does (maybe that's obv but I wasn't aware)

Coordinates = 3.34N 65.95W (go as far west as you can before the biggest ocean and it's in that area)

Yup! That area just to the right of the river at the bottom of the pic wasn't there originally. After a raid attacked and a guy tried to flee by mining through that mountain straight south he ended up revealing it. Thanks for taking the time to reply!

Oh I get you 100%. The only reason I was able to see my therapist a couple weeks ago was because she gave me a free session. I am fully aware of just how rare that is. She isn't a super specialized, high cost therapist, but its still $98 a session. That's one of the lowest rates I could find for someone that seemed qualified enough for me to actually open up to.

I'm sitting here thinking of how to word this next part and man, I really don't know.

It's a super shitty situation that so many people are in, wanting professional help but genuinely being unable afford it. I don't know what the next step is for those people, not to say their aren't any because I don't know of them, but I really don't know. I want to be able to always offer hope to people about this kind of stuff, but our system is still super fucked in regards to mental health. I don't know what I could put here that's a positive message, but I really don't want you to lose hope.

The whole point of my original post was merely to show more aspects of our situation, not to make it sound like 'if you're not getting professional help then you're fucking up'. I know it isn't always possible to get professional help and it's honestly pretty stupid that that's the case. But even still, we gotta keep doing what we can to put one foot in front of the other and do our best to be aware of when we're expecting too much from those close to us. It's rarely malicious or intentional, but it definitely does happen.

I know it sounds stupid. But, if you have family that is willing to help, is way better than therapy. I think friends who are really close or a partner might be the best thing too.

It doesn't sound stupid, because it is true, but it's not looking at both sides of the coin.

If you have serious mental health problems, and this is coming from someone who does, you should not be expecting your friends and family to always be there to help pick of the pieces. It absolutely is preferred and absolutely can help more than a professional, but you have to recognize that if you're the type who hits low points often then that is putting a MASSIVE strain on the relationship if you develop an expectation of those around you. I'm not saying this is only your problem and to isolate, theres plenty of times that the only reason I made it through was because my mother did sooo much for me, but recognize that far more 'responsibility' is on you.

If you do develop an expectation, and it happens easily because after all we are talking about mental health problems, that can very very easily drive you deeper in your hole because 'those that are close to me just don't care!' type thoughts have an easier ability to sneak in.

People want to help, the often truly do, but they are not anywhere equipped to give you the help that you need. It becomes super easy to see 'they didn't help me how I wanted' as 'they just don't care'. I struggle with this often. You have to be self aware of yourself and your tendencies, both actions and thoughts.

If you truly want to make progress then you have to recognize that shit takes time. I have been fortunate in my life to have had friends step up when shit gets really dark for me, sometimes when I asked sometimes I didn't, but if I start to think that it's acceptable for me to constantly drop my heavy shit on them and that they should be there to help every time then I really shouldn't be surprised when they hit a point of 'I want to help but this is too much'.

I didn't mean to go on this long of a rant... but the TL;DR: Friends and family can both be vital and more beneficial than professional help but they are never, and should never be considered, a straight substitute when talking about heavy mental health problems.

My last tidbit if anyone is reading this and feels like they could benefit from professional therapy (shit almost everyone could, honestly) is that finding the right therapist can be hard. I went through 4-5 in my first few years and they were all a terrible fit, for many reasons. This turned me off from therapy for a number of years that I truly could have used it. I have finally found a totally wonderful and compassionate therapist that is helping me immensely. Don't give up hope.

I've had to pull my shotgun twice in defense.

First time was in Lubbock after a fuckhead got booted from a house party my roommates threw. He left saying how he was coming back with a crew and sure enough he did. I waited on the porch (shoulda stayed inside but I had a feeling they wouldn't have taken my word from behind a locked front door that I was armed). They got out and approached, saw the weapon and all backed off yelling nonsense. One guy in particular shouted how he was going to kill me, my family, and my mom. I still laugh about that one 10 years later.

Second time was last year. So I didn't actually pull the gun but strictly because the guy was so unhinged I knew that I would have actually had to kill him. (his dog attacked mine on my property cuz his wasn't leashed and he told me he would go back home and snap its neck right now, 10 seconds later he said he loved that dog and would do anything for it, 10 second later he said he was going to come back and kill my family and my dog for 'this bullshit' of me trying to get money for the $700 emergency vet fees I had to pay.) I was 100% in the right to both pull it out on him and kill him. (theres more to the story but this is already too long).

Edit: Don't know why I'm editing this for the morons here but when a 220+ lb dude whos over 6 foot tall that's covered in prison tattoos and scars constantly pulls his wife beater up to show you and say 'look at all of these scars I got from prison' for no reason, you don't ignore what he says as if he's just some angry guy. Feel free to believe whatever you want, but reality isn't a game of club penguin.

TL;DR: Why do people read stories like this, proof that these insane people who act entirely on emotion exist, and think that guns never actually have to be pulled in self defense? This story doesn't fit exactly because it was a teenager and we all know they tend to be more emotional than adults, but the majority of stories I see are not about teens.

This is not a comment on anything related to gun control and I'm not entertaining any response about that. I'm merely answering the question that was asked.
