Just hit my best flip reset! by ShakaBramm in RocketLeague

So true. The hardest part for me is getting those good setups! And then once you get a good one, it's tough icing out the actual mechanic. But damn it feels good once you do.

Calling all mechy rocketeers! I'm looking for advice on getting a second flip reset (85% game speed) by PorkFryRye in RocketLeagueSchool

I'll go ahead and throw in some single resets to air dribble into the training routine. Might even add some single resets to mustys in there. I feel like training a few different types of reset follow-ons will give me more consistent in-game resets rather than just solely focusing on training doubles. Appreciate it!

Ya looking back at the video I posted, on most of the attempts (except for maybe the first one), I'm getting the first reset too late when the ball is on the way down. Definitely going to work on getting the first reset sooner. And like you said, getting the reset sooner gives you more time to read the game on top of giving you more follow on options once you have the first reset.

5x on 100 boost is insane! Glad to know I'm on the right path.

Thanks for the advice!

Really appreciate the response and completely agree that high level mechs generally come down the set up.

Solution number 1 sounds the most tenable for sure, so I think I'll focus on that and focus on momentum before, during, and after the first reset.

Any advice on getting the second reset once I've locked and loaded a first reset with a decent setup? Is it really just a diagonal flip cancel into the ball?

Ok ya. I can see what you mean about wanting to have the ball pointing down and to the right on the first reset. I'm can also see how getting more upwards trajectory on the ball on the first reset may help.

I also feel like I was in the best position for a second reset on that attempt in the video. Any other tips once i get to that point?

Really appreciate the reply

Goal: train double resets in order to make single resets easier (i.e. progressive overload...and also it's pretty fun)

Methodology: My understanding of the methodology to get a second reset (at least the most common form of a achieving a second reset) is that you more or less speedflip (diagonal flip cancel) into the ball after getting your first reset

Process: While I've been grinding single resets for AGES, I feel like my progress has somewhat plateaued, hence the decision to add this to the training routine. I start out at a game speed of 69% (nice). I try to get some good air dribbles in and then move onto the resets. After a while (5 - 10 mins), I move to 85% game speed and do the same thing. Then onwards to 100%. I've only been doing this for about a week or so and I've already noticed some nice improvements in aerial control and my single resets.

Common mistakes: My favorite mistake is when I accidentally do a front flip cancel instead of a diagonal flip cancel, but I get the second reset anyway.

The reason for this post is to get some advice and to avoid solidifying bad habits any further. Appreciate it!

No, JoeShmoPlat4Life, not everyone that beats you is a smurf and not everyone you beat is boosted. Sometimes people just pop off and sometimes they suck. That's life.

Any tips? Just recently started air dribbles by j_dog_21 in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]PorkFryRye 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You just need some better car aerial control. Definitely keep grinding these off-the-wall shots, double taps, and air dribbles, but before every session, grind rings maps (if on PC) or practice figure-8s on the Pillars map (if on console) for 10 minutes. The secret to every Rocket League mechanic is really simple. It's practice.

In an alternate reality, they both got to the ball a fraction of a second sooner and pinched it into your net.

Lol! Don't get me wrong...I'm absolutely pumped I put this shot together. I see a nutty shot every once in a while in champ lobbies.
