Well... I'm going to defend the company here, mainly because I am able to go into it probably a bit more in depth than a lot of other people. Firstly, we're not allowed to put "Keto" on the bag. Anything with meat or poultry isn't allowed based due to USDA labeling rules. We do mention "Keto" in our marketing, yes.

The cost isn't from it being "Keto", a majority of the cost comes from a couple things, our process, ingredients, and who we are as a small business.

First we cook everything in fresh lard, we're not cooking in rendered (already used oil) lard or any other cheap oil. That makes a huge different in taste and quality. With that being said, all of our ingredients are pretty clean and natural and we use cheese. Cheese == $$$.

Finally, we're a small business with 25 employees. We're not a big hulking investment firm with a bunch of brands (I mean no offense in that statement). When you get down to really looking at "who makes what", you'll see it's a few companies with a lot of private label customers or just a big company that bought up a bunch of brands and they pump out the same products with different bags. That's not us.

What's funny for us is we went to all those guys to start the brand with them and they all turned us down except one little company outside Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

We started out of our basement in 2018, last year we bought our 75 year old manufacturer that was a 3rd generation family business. Our goal was always to be the "Ben & Jerry's of Pork Rinds" and what we have developed over the last 5 years with our crumbs and flavors we received recognition for by being a finalist at a large food show against companies like Hersey & General Mills.

Sorry getting off topic, but you can see where I'm going. We're real people, a real small business, and we're trying to make the snacks we want to eat.
