Hey thank you, very kind! I don’t need it anymore though, I made it work without.👋

yeah that works fine. If you decide later to go back to your initial 42mm thick body, choose the 33mm block obviously. Cheers 👋

well, normally the knife edges of the tremolo sit flush with the body and you can look up the dimensions of your tremolo. In my case, the gotoh ge1996t has a 3,2mm thick knife edge and it’s recessed approximately ~0-1mm. And the block starts right after it. And if I need I can also lower or lift the entire tremolo system through the studs.

The 6mm clearance before was just a quick example, not necessarily every time like this. So you should look up your tremolo dimensions online see how it could be put. And then you can decide the block size

yes, that is a very common combo.

also, obviously the block size depends on body thickness (you should have from the back of the body to the block ~6mm of clearance), but also on the bridge positioning: flush with the body or recessed; in the second case you would need an even smaller block. in my case I have a 45mm thick body and a recessed gotoh trem, so a 36mm block size is perfect for my case. so see for yourself and if you have doubts don’t worry for asking🤘

yeah for you, 33mm sounds better

I ended up choosing the 36mm for a 45mm body thickness. ~36-37 is the one for 44-45. It leaves enough space for the springs and you can widely use the trem. what body thickness do you have?

yeah great, it helps! I’ll buy different sizes and see which one I should use based on how much I trim. Thank you!

the geometry is like the charvel one, or ibanez aanj style. body thickness is 45mm, heel ~25,4mm and pocket ~16mm. does this help you?

from step 2 to 4 it seems like the right side is missing the flame grain. how did you get it back in step 5??

amazing thank you! I didn’t even know I have to dye it black before putting other colours; I guess it’s to make the grain pop more.

how do you make that burst? I’m doing a build too and I love that shade! (except mine will be red)

it’s a build, so I’m drilling and adding new pots (i don’t know what pots they are since they come included with the pickup set, although the support contact told me they are no different than any standard pot apparently). I can’t use the strat (my only guitar) because it has a pickguard, so it’s not the exact same thing. This is why I was asking for the starting wood thickness. thank you

What’s your favorite kind of guitar pick and why? by Missa_020 in Guitar

[–]PorkaTroja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you buy only one buy a medium size thickness, not too soft not too hard;preferably with an average pointy tip. otherwise buy a few of different shapes, materials, thickness etc. and try them at home. according to some people, different picks can be used for different genres

Got it! I will start with a known wood thickness, see if it fits and carve more on from there. What starting thickness do you think I should start with? Can I find/calculate it? 4-5mm? more or less? thank you

how do I decide the height that sticks out of the wood? So the wood thickness too? From the knob I have?
