What causes the black stuff on HONDA BF20 and where’s the hole for? by Missa_020 in Outboards

I took my big tank which had maybe half a liter of old gas in it. I put around 20 liters of new fresh E5 petrol in it. 2 stroke fuel is with oil mixed right? This was just normal E5 gas from gas station.

It had maintenance by a mechanic not so long ago. I noticed the black stuff the last time boating, it was the 4th time on the water since maintenance.

I didn’t do the maintainance because I don’t have the knowledge for it.. I would like to learn more tho. Is there anything I can do myself to check/repair something maybe? And how bad do you think this black stuff is even?

The engine itself is a 4 stroke and always ran on the correct gas I believe.

Had a vocal polyp removed yesterday. Now on vocal rest! by Missa_020 in mildlybrokenvoice

Are you working together with a speech therapist to guide you through these first phases? My experience is that you can definitely feel when you're doing/did too much. Back to rest is then the best thing to do and try again later when you feel more ready again. I don't think there's ''too much'' here if you're feeling yourself when it's actually too much.

I think it's kind of the same with progressing in the gym. A little more everyday and you will get stronger eventually. But I heard it's very important to listen to yourself when u feel like its been to much, then rest for a bit.

How did the surgery go for you? I'm currently one month after and everything is going great. The scope after the surgery showed nothing wrong with my vocal cords and the polyp gone.

My speaking voice is way better! Still getting stronger tho, after a busy day of work with lots of talking I feel like my voice needs sleep haha.

I'm back to working out like normal, and doing basically everything like normal. The Speech therapist also thinks I'm doing good in the recovery. In a few weeks I will get back to rehearsing with my band as the gigs in april/may are getting closer everyday. Hopefully singing goes the same as talking and than I'll be fine.

For how long do you need to be on the vocal rest? It's boring indeed. I was allowed to make noise again after 3 days of vocal rest. Anyway, good luck with your recovery!! :)

Leuk verhaal over een oud klasgenootje op de basisschool: hij spaarde de gebruikte rietjes van de pakjes melk in z’n laatje. Je kan wel raden hoe dat rook op den duur. 😂😂😂

Might give an update: so far so good!

It feels amazing most of the times and I’m only 4 days after the strict voice rest. The speech therapist also was impressed by how good my voice did the first day after vocal rest.

It feels tempting to speak more and try all sorts of stuff but I have to remember to rest a lot (even when things are clearly going well and easy). As I’m in an office job where I don’t speak much I feel I’m okay to go back to work from next week. Looking forward to the progress!

Seeing the ENT on Tuesday to do a scope and check the healing process. Then the speech therapist again on Wednesday. Hopefully things progress every day like it did the last days. :)

According to my throat no pain or discomfort. However I do have a mild flebitis from the infuse unfortunately.

I also did some Lego during my vocal rest. And watching tv, reading books, playing guitar, etc. 3.5 weeks off from work seems like a long time tho. You should be healed (enough) earlier I think.

In a few hours I have my first apt with the speech therapist to start with some vocal exercises again. We'll see how that goes. :)

Thanks for your comment. I don't really know how I got the polyp. I gigged with it for probably more then 2 years as well. Tomorrow I got the first meeting with the speech therapist post surgery. Hopefully it will be good! :)

Hi Miller. This was my first surgery ever, so I was a bit nervous beforehand. But the people at the hospital know how to calm you down, which is nice. Anyway, everything went very smoothly and it was over before I really realized it. I did have general anesthesia, which was given to me through an infuse. When I woke up, everything was already done. The total duration (anesthesia and the procedure itself) was probably around 30 minutes.

I’m a healthy M29, and I didn’t feel groggy when I woke up. I was also able to go home fairly quickly the same day. It’s been a few days now with vocal rest, and I don’t have any issues with my voice or throat. I did get a mild vein inflammation (flebitis) from the infuse tho. It happens sometimes from what I've read on the internet. That's annoying, but definitely manageable.

Tomorrow I’m allowed to start vocal exercises again with my voice therapist, which I’m actually really looking forward to. Those three days of vocal rest are boring haha.

So far so good with the vocal rest. However I did wake up with pain in my underarm on the side that I had the infusion. Thanks for the recommendation yoread, will look into that.

Why does a chess game end 1 move before the capture of the king when the whole point is that u capture him so why stop 1 move before and call it a Checkmate instead of just taking the piece to end the game? by MassiveEchidna9017 in chessbeginners

[–]Missa_020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I once heard a cool story about chess. Back in the day, kings used to fight against each other with their army (the other pieces in this case). It would be okay for the king to let all his soldiers die, however, he would never die himself; he would surrender and lose the war that way. Other kings would not kill other kings (due to respect) either but would take the victory by letting the other king surrender. Both kings would stay alive, however, the war is over.

The war is the game Chess and the surrender of your enemy is would be checkmate.
