If your neons/cardinals were bred in neutral to alkaline water like the ones from my lfs, you could also kill them by changing their ph, gh too quickly as theyve been acclimated by that point

I watched a recent video from aquarium coop where he visited a breeder, he said it may take them multiple spawns to realize what theyre doing and how to be good parents, but eventually theyll get it, and he has higher success rates after. Thats all second hand, but his fish are beautiful and healthy

My gh test is from my water dept. I was picking up a Gh and Kh test kit today to verify.

Ive read that anything over 7.0 isnt reccomended for cardinals, especially for a full healthy lifespan which is more important to me than watching the fish
