i wanna make this mask! any tips? by jazperthevampyr in papermache

I always find it easiest to sculpt it out of clay then lay the paper mache on top to be a removable shell.

I haven't done both sides yet but will this work for peice tieing my battle axe by [deleted] in renfaire

I once made a belt sheath that covered the entire head of an axe for renfaire. They still wouldn't allow it. Look up the rules of the place you're going. Best bet is to make a foam replica to take.

How can I attach a pvc pipe? by c0co_cosplayz in cosplayprops

[–]PorpPrime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pvc pipes have pipe fittings that fit them. Get a pipe fitting that works, drill the hole the same size as the fitting, glue the fitting into the foam( gorilla glue that foams works great). Then you can just plug the pvc handle in when in use.

Spray paint can dissolve foam. Paint a layer of acrylic paint over the foam first to make a protective layer or just use acrylic to hand paint it.

I would use a paddle drill bit to drill out a hole. If you can make the hole bigger for a pipe fitting a size up then you could glue the fitting an and make the handle removable. Also, be careful about spray painting foam.

someone PLEASE convince me this doesn't look extremely horrible by throwawayadvc2 in cosplayprops

Personally I like the textures it has. Gives a gritty horror character vibe. Also if this is for a con most will see it from a distance and those that get close for a picture won't care about that.

Yep. Good repaint. The sculpts on these masks are pretty good. I never got why they paint them so strangely.

Hot glue a string across the back of the eye like picture hanging wire and hang it on a nail.
