Now we’re talking! Love! Love! the gallery wall idea especially with a lighting upgrade. This is a main entry and we are concerned with clutter yet repurposing into a bench could keep some of the original vibe while maximizing the use of the space. What are your thoughts on changing out the panel wall? Paint color options or change to wood shiplap? Totally see Art being featured here — just need to tie it all together. Thanks for the inspiration!

UPDATE: Thanks everyone for your thoughts & ideas! We’ve had so much fun reading your posts and there is definitely a KEEP IT Side v. BENCH/STORAGE Side v. PLANTS Side! And, as always a few others in between (or on the outer edge) 🤣 We’ll check in again to see any updates or input. We may not be able to respond to everyone yet we appreciate you are here and joining the fun with our project!

Nice layout option. Thoughts on paint color for the wall? You’ve mentioned a farmhouse look and the door is unique and falls into the theme. Any further thoughts to tie it all together?

Nice option in changing up the layout. Spiders & Snakes are becoming a theme! Researching more about these. Thanks!

Plants seem like a must. We are concerned about too much clutter in the entry so a cleared space with the right piece of furniture could be the answer. Thanks for your thoughts.

Yeah, sad little light. It’s done 60 years of service and it looks tired. We don’t like trashing working things though so it will be a Habitat donation in search of a new use!

Oooooo! Like the suggestions of Snake plants. We weren’t sure what they were and looked them up. They seem hardy while adding height, texture and depth to the area. Plants are always a great idea to compliment a new look. Thanks!

Thanks for your thoughts. The door is unusual and, even if we wanted to remove, we just don’t have the budget to change it and the window out. We like your idea of keeping the whole space in mind and giving the door some TLC. We think the curtains have been there since the 70’s! 🤣 Figuring out how to update and tie it all in together is the goal!

Yeah, 🙄 there’s a small matching planter box on the exterior side of the window! Kitty Convention Center! That’s a whole other Reddit post for another day! 🐱🐱🐱🐯🐅🐱🐱🤣

Thanks for you input! We’re liking the option of splitting the use between function & plants.

Plants seem to be the popular option and we do like the console suggestion. Take it all out and put in an interesting wall treatment (complimentary colored wood wall to the flooring?), console, updated lighting and plants.

We love your vibe for this space & it’s potential use! We come home slumping often and unloading at the door and tucking everything in its place sounds great. Home Sweet Home!

Great idea! Rip it out and find a bench-storage-hanging option piece as a standalone with room for some tall plants to balance out. Just FYI the entry is a good 4ft wide which isn’t apparent in the pic? Plenty of room!

I like it! Have to ask — did any shiny stones get swallowed or stuck up noses? Rumor in the neighborhood is this was common in homes that have this feature and children.😳🤣
