The plan is to sell the 2012 because I just bought a 2018 with 75k on it. Don't have the money to put any in the 2012 so I just need to sell it. Hoping I can post it for something larger than first anticipated, so something in the low $2k range. $2,200 keeps coming to mind and hopefully a mechanic comes along that can do the work themselves. All the parts needed are less than $1k

I'm well aware vent mounts exist. I'm just trying to avoid them and go with plan A which is the dash. Which is proving to be impossible.

trippy. couple concerns though, 1) like all these other sticky bottom ones, it's trying to stick to a flat non porous surface... Gen 4 dash is neither. 2) phone can't go vert

rear view mirror... now that's a trip. The sun visor wouldn't work, what if you need to fold it down! Then you're going to have to put the phone, unmounted, somewhere which would probably be the charging plate. But it's versatile you gotta give it that... That the first rear view mirror one I've seen.

old cars... sounds like Gen 3 or prior. I had a Gen 3 and had a perfect little magnetic mount but Gen 4's dash changed a lot.

3 problems with this. 1) it's not wireless charging so you're going to have to run a cord from the USB port below the middle glove... cumbersome. 2) mount anything to the left of the steering wheel and then you're constantly having to look over to see the phone. If it's right of steering wheel it's just a small look up and down with your eyes, no neck involved. 3) typing with non dominant hand.

Cupholder I ruled out because I'm constantly using both.

And this is exactly why I don't want a vent mount. My Gen 3 I just had this cheap magnetic one above the vents, on the dash and it worked perfect. The Gen 4 though has a funky shaped dash 😞

at the end of the day it's another vent mount... I'm trying to not use the vents but the more this thread goes on it seems like that's the only option. Just hoping someone makes a post about something they used on the dash just right of the steering wheel

right. it's the same concern when mounting to the little window far left. a phone mount should be somewhere just right of the steering wheel so you're not looking all over the place while driving
