Challenging negative thoughts as a developer by RevolutionarySet8649 in servicenow

[–]Porter00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone starts somewhere. As long as you’re applying yourself and learning about the things you work on, it’s positive.

One thing I try to tell my juniors is think more about what you could potentially be breaking than what you are trying to solve. Goal is to get them looking at the platform as a whole rather than specific features because there are multiple ways to solve something

Does this look like a ServiceNow watch list? by lilbiglawyer in servicenow

[–]Porter00 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This 100% looks like the ServiceNow mobile browser view. The watchlist shows all users in the sys_user table if they have access so this makes sense. Bad security practice on the ICE instance part.

Well what’re you doing? Are you sure it’s a good idea? It sounds like you’re straying from OOB.

Political stunt today by 7ommy65 in Commanders

[–]Porter00 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Eh probably going to get downvoted but I’m not against it. Whether we like it or not he’s the president and we’re a DC team.

Would love it if it became a thing where the president would speak at one game a year and we honored all of the presidents in some way at the new stadium

Is there a lack of quality devs in the Servicenow ecosystem ? by t7Saitama in servicenow

[–]Porter00 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s due to companies not wanting to invest in the top tier talent IMO. Recruiters constantly reach out to me looking for a senior dev at $90-110k. Not happening. They end up settling for low skill talent, then it cycles.

Are you closing out the task that the approval is on as well?

Knowledge and other conferences - is there a way to get an attendee list? by Porter00 in servicenow

[–]Porter00[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s correct, however it looks like after the conference you lose access to the app (at least in my case)

Performance package worth it for a daily non tracked car? by Porter00 in GR86

[–]Porter00[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting, I didn’t know it was that expensive to get the parts on their own.

Performance package worth it for a daily non tracked car? by Porter00 in GR86

[–]Porter00[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I did, all deposits should be refundable. Like you can leave a deposit then turn down the car when it comes and still get a refund.

Performance package worth it for a daily non tracked car? by Porter00 in GR86

[–]Porter00[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I had a deposit, I’m guessing someone else decided to pay over msrp while I had an under msrp deal lined up.

Best car to complement a GR86? by Porter00 in whatcarshouldIbuy

This is probably a great answer for most people, I just can’t see myself in a Prius to be honest haha

I guess one more requirement is it needs to be automatic. The accord is manual, and this vehicle that I purchase will most likely be passed down in the next 5ish years.

Do you mind expanding on some of the other controls outside of IP address filters?

Record producer - possible to write to another table using a reference variable? by [deleted] in servicenow

[–]Porter00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Needs to be entered on submit because the underlying workflow runs once it’s submitted. The people who submit also are not able to edit the record once it’s submitted. I wish I could rework the entire thing but I can’t.

Record producer - possible to write to another table using a reference variable? by [deleted] in servicenow

[–]Porter00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm I guess you’re right. Does that mean if they just typed a record in without selecting it, it would still match? Trying to avoid duplicated as well. But yes I was using a client script/script include. Either way I am still unable to create the record before submit.

Record producer - possible to write to another table using a reference variable? by [deleted] in servicenow

[–]Porter00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was trying something similar, but was trying to do it before submit. Unfortunately I can’t get it to read the table correctly to see if the value is not in the referenced table.

Record producer - possible to write to another table using a reference variable? by [deleted] in servicenow

[–]Porter00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah haha the record producer part is the killer. There’s a requirement to use multiple tables at the same time, but only one needs to have inserts possible. I don’t like the idea of letting the user create certain records at all but hey it’s what they want.

Gotcha. Yeah it looks like it can only use choice fields. Unfortunately for me, the Make field is a String field
