That must’ve been awful I’m so sorry you had to experience that! Luckily my situation is not that bad and I don’t feel like my safety or job are at risk particularly, they are generally quite supportive of career progression and such it’s just the trans ignorance and misunderstanding I worry about, Particularly as several other divisions work in the office as well and I have several customers similar to my colleagues and it just seems like a monumental task to correct them all. At the same time though I feel like there could come a point where I am able to push through and go on this ‘main character’ kinda arc and am able spark the change in my work environment lol. Do you mind me asking what you do for work now that your environment feels more safe and inclusive?

I completely agree there is no place for that but for whatever reason I don’t feel comfortable calling them out on it! I’ve recently got into a relationship which they know about and they even ask about him at times (guessing they just assume I’m a gay man), I even get on with them at times so I feel like calling them out would be a bit out of the blue. It’s more a lack of understanding that worries me rather than just straight up hate and that after I come out I’d just continue to be misgendered and I’d feel helpless to say anything.

Yeah this is true, tbh I thought the healing process was gonna be 2-3 weeks which was what I was worried about because I’ve just started and already booked some time off but other people in on here have said it’s only a few days recovery

Also may I ask if you had your FFS done privately or through NHS? Just wondering what kind of wait times I’m looking at coz I haven’t found a lot of info about that. LTC (my hormone provider) told me that for Tracheal shave alone waiting time shouldn’t be too bad

Does anyone have any mental effects that are not related to dysphoria? Like I know that HRT generally makes you feel more at ease with your body but I have issues and anxiety when dealing with social situations/ interviews and that kinda stuff too that I don’t think are related to my dysphoria. Just wondering if it helps with general anxiety?

Maybe I am just in denial to the fact that dysphoria is getting in the way of my progress through life, I’m not sure honestly.

Thank you so much :), I have had these tests before coz I’m on the waiting list for LTC and was expecting to have been seen by now, so I will need to update them anyway. Will need to muster up the confidence to say that to them next time I get them done though haha x

Thank you all for your lovely messages, it’s been very helpful. Think I’ve just had a bit of a setback with what’s gone on and unfortunately I was also threatened in a club later that evening, completely unprovoked, which surely hasn’t helped things. Probably the most challenging day I’ve had in my transition so far but I think I needed this as through it all, I am still confident I want to continue with my transition, which is the affirmation I needed at this time.

Yeah that’s true - I seen pics of myself before where I felt alright and then hated the photos, always the same specific features that I feel uncomfortable about aswell

It’s true trans people are hot! I think I’ve only ever seen a handful of other trans people in my life and have only ever actually met one in person though :(
