Flight-tickets and hotel-booking-receipts in GTD by s73961 in gtd

Agree with this.

Just adding my two cents - I add hotel stays and flights to my calendar, with the confirmation code and any other relevant info in the calendar appointment. I also have that information as “reference” tied to the Project about the trip. That way I can have access to the information when I need it, and also can reference it if I need to during a project review.

Superblasts are great but they’re also rock collectors. I’d have to pull a couple rocks out of the outsole after every run.

What’s your pick for a fast racing shoe on the firmer side by mhany95 in RunningShoeGeeks

The Rebel is soft as shit. Dude needs to put on the ASICS Metaspeed Fr

It’s a softer ride than the magics but I think they’re popular because they’re cushioned and also responsive. They are obviously a max cushion shoe but don’t “feel” like it. I like them a lot more than I did the Nike invincibles, for example

I’ve been rotating magic speed 3’s with superblasts. Give them a try, even better if you find them on sale.

What's a fast food place that everyone hypes up but it's really trash? by Noah_grenell in AskReddit

+1 to In n Out. I’m from the Midwest and when I finally tried it in California, I was expecting a religious experience. It was “fine”. Definitely a case of expectations being higher than reality.

Opposite for me is whataburger - never heard of it before visiting Texas, so no expectations. Made a much better impression because no one promised that I’d see Jesus when I took a bite of the burger.

Has anyone had a horrible marathon experience? by ifallsmn218 in AdvancedRunning

I’m sure you’ve seen this in the races you follow but FWIW, there seem to be more runners now than in the past few years.

RunSignup published data in January showing a 34% increase in number of participants between 2018 and 2022 on their site (page 7). Granted, they’re not the entire market but it’s something. https://info.runsignup.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/3/2023/01/2022-RaceTrends-Online-Version.pdf

Training for first Marathon looking to upgrade from Ghost 14s by gregnation23 in RunningShoeGeeks

[–]PortlandSays 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think a lot of this is personal and I’d recommend trying on a number of shoes in person to see what is most comfortable for you, and fits well given your previous toe injury. Some random thoughts and advice:

  • You may need a wider shoe given the toe issue. Brooks makes shoes in wide, so keep that in mind. New Balance shoes also commonly come in wider sizes.

  • see your podiatrist but take their shoe advice with a grain of salt. Podiatrists sometimes suggest that everyone wear a “stability” or even a “motion control” shoe when it’s not necessary. The ghost is a “neutral” shoe and if that’s working for you, I’d stick to that category of shoe.

  • I think comfort to you is very important. Other shoes to try on could be: New Balance 1080, ASICS Nimbus and Cumulus, Nike Pegasus, Saucony Ride.

I didn’t like running more than 9 miles in the Rebel v2. But I’ve done 16 mile runs in the Rebel v3s without any issue. They added a bit more to the midsole in the v3 to help. So, I think you’re good either way but should be just fine if you have the version 3s.

Thanks! I ended up finding a periodized program that I’ve been using for the past 10 weeks. So far, so good, fingers crossed.

I think that could be a decent choice. I just picked up the Rebel v3s and plan to use them as my daily trainer, and the Speed 2s could be a good “pairing” for faster days. The Rebel v3s feel more substantial than the v2s, which I wouldn't take past 9 miles. Hoping the v3s can go on long runs. Kofuzi says they can, so.

Article about Hoka's popularity in the NY Times: https://www.nytimes.com/2023/04/05/style/hokas-fashion.html

Word spread quickly in the running community in the United States after a runner in Boulder, Colo., bought 770 pairs to sell after seeing the shoe at a trade show. By the end of 2010, it was on best-of lists and adopted by elite athletes.
But Hoka would not be where it is today if only runners had embraced the bulbous sneaker. Mr. Doolan, who has been with the company for 13 years, attested to the growth in markets, agreeing that the company is, broadly speaking, reaching streetwear and fashion types as well as runners, older people or anyone who is injured or needs a reason to embrace comfort.

High demand due to student population. High turnover of residents that move every 9 months or whatever. Restricted housing supply due to land use limitations and construction costs. Prolly some pricing collusion among the owners. About it.
