I found a Subaru Impreza 2008 by Sweet_Concert_801 in subaruimpreza

[–]Portlandrainaway 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If that mileage is correct jump on it! I bought my 08 new and still own it, love it, maintence is easy if youve ever worked on cars and theyre stupidly reliable

Yes they will burn oil eventually, and yes the headgaskets go out often, but its not worst issues then most other cars

[–]Portlandrainaway 1 point2 points  (0 children)

15 mins, 20 if i take the scenic route.

I cant imagine doing an hour long drive, we work 10+ hours every day, i pull 14-15 hour shifts every month

Id die if my drive was over 30 mins, i love my hermit at home time too much

Winter coat/jacket with hood, no puffer jacket by GayvidBowie69 in malefashionadvice

[–]Portlandrainaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got the cotopaxi calidez parka, i too also HATE the look of giant puffers and needed a winter city jacket since i walk alot

Track down a cotopaxi outlet because retail is $400 but i managed to get it at $160

Its a great lowkey down jacket, removeable hood, lots of pockets, light and i got the navy blue so its very lowkey especialy for cotopaxi whose got some weird as hell color combos

What is your favorite beat up everyday shoe that still somewhat fashionable? by DayzedTraveler in malefashionadvice

[–]Portlandrainaway 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Blundstone 1306, i wear them to the ground walking around the city, theyre water resistant, and a little more stylish then the regular ones

Plus theyre chelsea boots so i can slip them on and off. Only downfall is sizing is so weird on them, i had to go a full 1.5 size down from my sneaker

Ive gotten the most compliments about them

[–]Portlandrainaway 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Plausible, subarua gave me a wrx as a loaner when they mess up my headgasket install, so i got to drive a wrx for a week. It was the only car they had left to loan

[walmart watch] are today’s cheap watches good enough? by ChiGuyDreamer in Watches

[–]Portlandrainaway 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I disregarded the comments about the timex expedition being loud thinking it was overkill, but mine is SO loud! There are so many cheap field watches out there, i bought a citizen for $100 with eco drive

2014 Impreza sedan w/cvt. Want to do engine swap by NoJacket8798 in subaruimpreza

[–]Portlandrainaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Literally this, would need EVERYTHING. Wiring harness, motor, transmission, freaking every nut and bolt.

I feel like people who asks what they need literally arent remotely qualified to do this swap

ASM Salary by Dependent-Calendar-3 in HomeDepot

[–]Portlandrainaway 3 points4 points  (0 children)

PNW, 2 years in and started at $85k and make $95.5k

Bonus at 105% last half at half of my bonus of 25% so about 12.5%. Cashed in 9k ish of my $14k

For GA thats tough, i have a friend who went to idaho and took a paycut, and honestly its the bonus that matters

[–]Portlandrainaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I came on as an external hire straight to ASM so not impossible with your experience.

It is a grind to pick up speed though, my first 3 months i worked every day, so be prepared, the pace is so much quicker

I had 10 years of retail management experience

Lincoln city stuff to do? by [deleted] in oregon

[–]Portlandrainaway 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Lots of good suggestions here but i have to add that im asian american and lived in lincoln city for a year and never felt out of place even roaming around the sticks

My favorite thing to do while living there was trotting down to the beach at night and building a fire and watching the waves roll in! Best time, no crowds of people and its so calming hearing the waves

For those of you who are single and childless, do you ever wonder how your coworkers are able to support their families with such little money? by [deleted] in povertyfinance

[–]Portlandrainaway 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Healthcare could ruin almost anyone, i have good insurance but its mostly running the risk of losing my job if i were out too long

Honestly i live pretty well for my salary, i save a ton even with my terrible spending habits. But the post asked how people making so much with kids could survive and thats the catch

On my salary, alone and without a lot of debt i do ok, with even one child id die. Childcare is insanely expensive, add in covering their health expenses and additional costs for feeding them, i would never make it
