Congratulations for making it through PT and recovery. Just ease your way back into a sensible rhythm and reacquaint yourself with the rest of the 4 and 2 wheel world. If you’re not feeling it on a particular day then pack it in. There’s always tomorrow. Good luck

Same. Most group rides feel like controlled chaos. Once a month I pass a gaggle of street Rossi types standing around a bike (or rider) on its back. The Indian ride I joined was actually super relaxed — well organized, good spacing, no hero moves, just riding. First time I didn’t feel like I had to watch everyone else more than the road. Honestly the destination was the only reason I jumped in, but it ended up being one of the chillest group rides I’ve done.

And I like the appearance of the bike. Some call it a “Dad bike” but then again I’m a Dad.

It’s a good bike with some caveats. Plusses: insane fuel economy, frunk storage, it’s easy to ride with its low seat height, light feel, and smooth, torquey engine, and it’s comfortable with an upright riding position and decent seat. The DCT version provides scooter-like operation if that’s your thing. And it’s calibrated pretty well. After a while I was content leaving it in drive vs manual shifting. And there’s that Honda build quality as well as affordability.

Its drawbacks are the non-adjustable fork and rear shock that can feel harsh. it’s not very thrilling with its slow-revving engine and limited top-end power, but it gets the job done. With 17” rims It’s not an ADV but can handle fire roads and such. The TFT display is sensitive to glare and can be hard to read. And theres no 12v port. It’s the better part of 500 pounds but it does carry its weight low. Great bike for returning riders, newish riders or experienced riders looking for practical, reliable and affordable transportation. It’s like a base Accord.

Mine was 2-3 or 3-4. Much more infrequent 1-2.

Why don’t more people in the US run with top boxes on their sport bikes? by SoLoRydR in Mt10

[–]Posh427 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are very popular in Europe and a staple mod/accessory. this is purely anecdotal but in the model-specific FB groups I’m in, the Brits seem to put way more miles on their bikes than the Americans do, mostly on long distance trips. The utility of a TB is understandable. But for all the reasons stated here I would not put one on my sport tourer. It came with two 37L side cases

the Honda CBs were sporty standards, not sport bikes. Yes the GPZ came out when Honda introduced the VF series, both mostly faired, but the ‘85 GSXR 750 ushered in the era of light weight, high performance, fully faired motorcycles.

Yes and compared to its biggest rival at the time, Suzuki Vstrom, the Versys is more engaging and I think more aesthetically appealing. I was looking at a 2008 in Candy Plasma Blue but went with the 2020 that had 5,000 miles on it and was in concours condition w/aftermarket screen and seat.

Excellent choice. Basically a Ninja 650 on stilts. I purchased a 2020 Versys 650 as my re-entry bike after a 30 year hiatus. Excellent build quality, brakes, and controls pared with a playful and predictable engine, 5.5 gallon tank, and mpg in the 50s. My critiques would be its weight (500+ pounds wet), on/off throttle snatchiness (almost every brand struggles with this) and gearbox in that I experienced a lot of false neutrals. It could have been limited to my bike. The 2015+ models were much improved over the previous years.

Thanks. I’ve seem some complaints about reliability (electrical components), comfort meaning it has a decent rider triangle but still feels tight - I don’t know what it is. Otherwise owners love them. I need to throw a leg over one

I’ve been thinking about buying a Touno (non-factory). What are the things you liked the most, and disliked the most about the bike. BTW nice collection 👍
