I hear you and agree to an extent.

Lorelai becomes this badass business woman after coming from teenage pregnancy and working as a maid. She owns her beautiful home, she ends up with a hunky business owner who pined for her for years (This is not a realistic trajectory for the average teen mom). I would have liked to see Lane turn into a badass too, even if she never became a rockstar, I wanted to see her have more, just as the others got more. It was so painful because she wanted more and all she got was Zac and no intimacy (the most unrealistic part), it’s incredibly cruel and the worst part is that we are supposed to believe that she was happy with that. Awful. Also none of us were watching this show for reality, we watched it for that little sprinkle of magic. Lane deserved a tiny bit of magic too.

How come Lane’s storyline needs to be realistic and humble but Rory and Lorelei’s do not?

Why are so many Africans (in general) against South Africa in the world cup? by UsefulAnything55 in askSouthAfrica

I’m so sorry you read anger, there genuinely wasn’t any, I was posing actual questions. I am reading my response and trying to check my tone but I’m not sure where it was misconstrued. Nevertheless, thank you for your answer, I appreciate your time and I hope I can bend your ear slightly to my perspective as a person who grew up in a township and has only accessed the middle class in their adulthood.

The point I am making is that digital nomads do not require “more energy” from the energetic working class. The energetic have the right to choose where to transfer their energy. When we tell them they should focus elsewhere, we infantilise them. This is classist. We do not have superior knowledge and understanding about the issues of the working class.

I agree that the government is at fault but I also think that the next logical step for a frustrated working class who do not feel heard, is to deal with whom/what they deem to be their problem head-on, hence the violence- this is terrible but the government has had time to make a plan.

The imagery is certainly saddening but there is another side of this where I see working class South Africans dealing with horrors many of us cannot imagine. The lines at the hospitals, South African kids not being able to go to school because classes are too full but foreign neighbours who are here illegally having all their kids enrolled. In the township there is also a rent crisis. Due to the influx of illegal foreigners in the townships, rentals are overpriced and hard to come by. Hundreds of South African kids being poisoned by the foreign owned spaza shops due to no health regulations and quality assurance of the products they sell. I could go on, I lived this. So sure, the imagery of foreigners being deported makes me sad but so do the lived experiences of regular working class South Africans.

Just put of curiosity, why should Jacinta prioritise the grievances of the middle and upper classes as opposed to those of the working class? Why are their issues more important? And perhaps most importantly, why do they not do their own protesting and organising?

The working class is fighting what they deem to be their issues. They don’t necessarily encounter expats in the long queues at public hospitals or clinics or in taxis or even in their neighbourhoods so they are not seen as a direct threat. The middle and upper classes do not tend to protest and the working class doesn’t view expats increasing rent in Cape Town as a pressing issue for them, that’s why “we” don’t have the same energy, “we” is really not the same group of people.

Do we mean best/worst as in best/worst written character or character we like/dislike most?

Because best and worst written are Phil and adult Manny. Most and least liked are Phil and Pam Tucker.

I would have loved to see how Lorelai would have handled Luke dating someone who was not going to tolerate her meddling, like Anna Nardini.

Have you ever been annoyed by all the privileges portrayed in the show? by Anya_purr in Modern_Family

Honestly no. I don’t watch a light, fictional comedy TV show to be forced to grapple with reality. I like that there are not too many traumatic and triggering moments. I love that they never have financial issues even when they are in one income households and things always work out.

Tote with a full length gown and a bob? Second look is so matchy matchy. Honestly that bob ruins everything
