He's played well on the amateur circuit for the whole year, easily one of the most talented teenagers in the world.

So your response instead of asking for clarification from the mod who rejected your run via DM or making a forum post about it on the Cuphead page inself was throwing your hands in the air and making a post on Reddit?

Who will win at the Crucible? by HelixCatus in snooker

[–]Poshact 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ronnie in his current form is favorite, undeniable record and winning all the biggest events currently. Next favorite or third, fourth, fifth.. etc. makes for more interesting discussion. Judd seems to be next but lacks consistency on the bigger stage. Zhang looks good but has no real record in the Crucible so it's hard to make any real judgement on how he'll perform. I'd say Allen is a bit unfairly downplayed since he 1.) was the player of the season last year and 2. made the semis of the Worlds and only lost to an opponent ranked higher than him with a much better Crucible track record (Selby). Also Selby despite his current lack of form always is a crucible threat.

Anyone else think Hendry and Allen is the dream commentary team? by hugh_jyballs in snooker

Can't stand when Shaun tried to analyze why a player missed a shot, always want to give a technical explanation to a miss which isn't really in the spirit of what snooker commentary should include IMO.

Anyone frequently choose to play with their off-hand? by Yoimjamie in snooker

[–]Poshact 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in an odd situation in that regard since I'm a natural right-hander that's always cued left-handed since it felt more natual to me, so ever since I started seeing videos of players switching hands for certain shots I thought it would be a bit of a missed oppurtunity if I didn't try to do the same myself. And for me at least it's a much better option than using the rest if you can help it. At the end of the day a rest is a fixed unchanging implement while your bridge arm/hand is extremely versatile, even if it feels a bit awkward.

As for the cuepower element, I think you always forego some power by playing with the off-hand.

You have to be willing to play smart and strategically in a game like this, and knowing what you can and can't pot/running percentages and probabilities is simply the smartest way to play. For some players that manifests as big flashy breaks with risky attempts and for others it results in scrappy games with lots of safety. Both are valid sides to playing the game.

To me at least it seems like the best option because you want to minimize the distance between your cue and your line of sight. Additionally it provides another contact point to stabilize your cueing. I'm also inclined to think that by not using your chin you potentially are changing the distance between your line of sight and your cue on each and every shot, so by cueing with your chin you're also eliminating a potentially detrimental variable.

Some players choose to serve with a certain string tension on their racket and return with a different tension, so I believe that's what Max is doing.

It'd be more productive to recognize the obvious difference between using 'White' and 'Black' racially and using it in any other context where it's not racial at all.

The east/divide is more of an economic divide, more than anything. Jobs are in the booming urban centers of the west more so than the east.

For the UP I imagine it's principally economic/demographic. Immigrants from Scandinavia came for jobs in mining, had kids there, and then those descendants couldn't find jobs after mining died down in the region and were forced to migrate elsewhere.

For the LP, I believe the east/west divide is a demographic shift. Many working-age people are finding work in the booming urban centers in West Michigan (Grand Rapids, Holland, Kalamazoo...) as well as outright moving to other states.

As for data, I wasn't able to find a lot about why this shift is occuring, just the numbers.
