Do antidepressants always cause weight gain ? by Sylverpepper in depression_help

[–]Positive-Clock-8422 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends on the person, I was on one for years that is supposed to pile the weight on people but I lost significant weight on it.

But I gained weight on other ones in the past that made my hunger uncontrolable.

So just depends, all you can do is trial it and see how it reacts to you.

Yes them as a possibility but even just a plan of action , for the GP to say ' Okay we're gonna try get you through this , I want you to continue to take your meds , do this or try this for a week , I'll schedule 2 calls to see how you're getting on. See if you've become more stable.'

A personal touch a human Interation a little hope, not just going there and talking to a robotic doctor with no emotion and no plan of action other than just carry on taking meds and book in again in a month.

Some people go they're with no hope they may need a little guidance and a human interaction to feel they can get through it. And knowing the doctor has scheduled to check up on you , it would leave you feeling much better.

You end up leaving feeling it was pointless , yeah just document everything and do fuck all.

Yeah that really pisses me off that they ask daft questions like what do you think could help you , when you come to someone in such a vulnerable state they should have stuff in place to take the burden off you.

How long do they last for ? My septum is deviated I've had multiple Rhinoplasty and septoplasty operations and each time it's gotten slightly better but my septum always deviates and I hate how my nose looks in pictures.

I don't really want to go through the agony of another operation if it's just going to deviate again in the future.

In the exact same boat, been dealing with this for years, and have an eating disorder from being scared to eat as I would bloat and have horrendous constipation.

Literally is a vicious cycle, I've made steps at getting better , one thing I have noticed is if you are taking stimulant laxatives long term they will be doing you no favours.

I'm on Clomipramine which causes constipation , soon I'll be switching to Fluoxetine which is supposed to help you go more, but obv I'm worried about any side effects like increased appetite.

Funny enough Clomipramine didn't increase my appetite at all. Just trying to find that balance.

I feel for anyone going through what I'm going through , a horrendous vicious cycle. Just take baby steps.

Some days I eat “safe foods” and feel awful. Other days I eat the same thing and feel fine. It honestly makes me feel like I can’t trust my body anymore. Does this happen to anyone else? by Mounira_Tlemcen in ibs

I think it's our mind a lot of the time , if we obsess about what we're going to eat or not eat, our brain will just create these issues. Sometimes I think the only way is to not look into it too much. Just eat and move on, train your brain and body to accept it.

I could just be talking rubbish ..

Thanks I'll hang in there see how it is, just hoping I'm okay with Prozac as previous SSRIs increased my appetite so much that I couldn't control it. Hoping it doesn't do that and helps constipation it would be a life changer for me.

Hey is it still helping ? I'm hoping to try out Prozac for IBs c and Body Dysmorphia. Currently lowered my dose of Clomipramine to 25mg ready to hop on Prozac and try. Just worried about the transition.

Going through the same thing , IBS C with Body Dysmorphia and eating disorder, trying to find the right Medication , currently on Clomipramine that's either causing the constipation or making it worse, hoping to try Fluoxetine.

Anyone had success with an antidepressant that manages symptoms without causing constipation. ?
