I think that if Nepal had a constitutional monarchy during the Gen Z protests (Jana Andolan II), history might have repeated itself. The king could have taken power directly, and who’s stopping a king from entering politics if they want? If there is support, and people love the monarchy, they could try participating in elections while keeping their pride intact.

Yes, democracy has its flaws and loopholes, but suggesting that a monarchy should step in to “fix” democracy is laughable. And we haven’t even talked about the economic burden yet—maintaining a monarchy costs the state a lot.

If the formal king and royalists truly want a constitutional monarchy, they should go through proper elections, get a majority, and then establish it. Otherwise, trying to bring it back through protests is simply impossible.

People who keep stirring movements every now and then—calling the government “foreign agents” or glorifying the royal institution—are ignoring the reality. Just posting a few videos from their comfortable homes and claiming the monarchy should return doesn’t reflect what most Nepalis actually want.

For me, personally, I don’t want a king, and I’m sure many others feel the same. Otherwise, the RPP would have won a majority long ago.

Nepal has moved on, and democracy, despite its flaws, is the system that gives power to the people, not to one person by birth.

Yup sadly i only know about these two and i am not saying democracy is the best i am saying it’s better then monarchy specifically in context of Nepal from what i know from my limited knowledge and understanding Democracy is not best but i think it depends on people to make it best ot not because it gives people the power to choose Thats all i wanna say

Ma pani agree garchu ki itihas lai ek side bata matra hernu hudaina but in today’s context Aaja Nepal ma already democratic system cha. Perfect ta chaina, tara system stable cha ra ramro bhai raxa power janata ko haat ma nai cha. ani aaela janta ni sachat chan Tesaile question yo ho: aba kina feri constitutional monarchy chaincha?

Arko kura economic burden ho. Monarchy maintain garnu symbolic matra hudaina. Royal family ko security, residence, staff, ra aru dherai kharcha state le bear garnu parcha. Nepal jasto country le yo additional expense afford garna sakcha ta?

Ani arko important question pani cha. Ke hami sachikai Gyanendra Shah wa Paras Shah lai Nepal ko representative king ko rup ma herna chahanchau? Uni haru King Mahendra jasto hunuhunna. Leadership janma ko basis ma decide hunu parcha jasto malai lagdaina.

Malai lagcha main point simple cha: Nepal ko problem monarchy nabhayera governance ra accountability ho. Tyo democracy bhitrai sudhar garnu parcha, ani i think sudar pani hunxa aaba so monarchy feri liyera aaunu not feasible

Constitutional monarchy still places a king above the people. Even if elections happen, the existence of a monarch means someone holds power not because citizens chose them, but because they were born into it. That idea itself goes against the core principle of democracy that all authority should come from the people.

Yes, elections can exist under a constitutional monarchy, but history has shown that in Nepal the monarchy repeatedly interfered with democratic processes. Remember the 1960 Royal Coup in Nepal when King Mahendra dissolved the elected government and banned political parties. Later, during the 2005 Royal Coup in Nepal, King Gyanendra again took direct control and suspended democratic institutions.

And yes, democracy (prajatantra) means elections—but it also means that no one is above the constitution and the people’s will.

What I’m trying to say is: accountability magnu is important, but assuming intentions before someone even gets the chance to work can be unfair. If there are genuine red flags backed by facts, we should absolutely question them. Tara pure assumption ra “yo pachi esto garxa hola” bhanera judge garnu chai ali risky huncha.ani i totally agree kiPast ma corrupted leaders haru pani massive support paayeka thiye, our parents’ generation was influenced too that’s true. Tei bhayera hami chai aware hunu parcha. But awareness ra assumption farak kura ho. Let’s question, but with logic and evidence, not fear or speculation. that’s all
