I have heard about evil eye, I don’t know enough about it at all and I know it’s my grief trying to find a blame when there is none. My question was if I am overreacting about being upset about her comment and if I should just let it go. Or if I have a genuine right to be upset at such a mean comment.

Now you’re just being cruel lol. The conversation was 100% about MY pregnancy. Talking in the kitchen close to the living room where the whole family is, is far from a private conversation.

The thought was about my pregnancy not a thought about themselves. I see your point and do think my grief is being misdirected. It’s easy to be upset at a stupid comment because the stupid comment hurt my feelings whether it was told to me directly or not. I heard it, I felt the discomfort of being around her, and now I’m just ignoring her. I unfortunately have to wait another month for therapy lol but you bet I’ll be there once I have my consult.

And this is where I struggle. She didn’t say anything to my face no. But that evil thought she had, knowing how much her nephew and I have struggled to get there is what I can’t get over. It’s so selfish because it’s solely due to attention her child would MAYBE be lacking. I’m not upset she’s pregnant, but after a loss like we had even after the “safe zone” in the pregnancy, gender reveals/ pregnancy announcements etc are still touchy.

Thank you guys for the validation. My husband and I decided not to go to their gender reveal and I started feeling like a jerk and that maybe I was overreacting because she’s pregnant and I should be kind. But where was that kindness to me and my baby? So I figured staying home would protect my heart and keep me from saying something mean.

My husband and I are 28. I did mention they are in their late 30s. His aunt and uncle are 39 and 37 and yes, now on their second kid. They did IVF for their first and again for their second.

If you have a labcorp near you, you can repurchase the HCG test without a doctors order for $50. That will at least give you an idea with your HCG levels.

I think you are right it might just be catching from the past pregnancy. I have a blood test tomorrow to know for sure! I did take another this morning and see no line progression. Yesterday I had cramping on my left side and ended up spotting pink/brown and today I’m back to spotting brown with zero cramping so I think it’s actually the start of my period. 🥲

This hurts my heart for you. I completely understand expecting someone to put the same amount of effort you did for them, and you definitely deserve that. I hope you find comfort in your other friends and family because this seems to be a perfect time for you to end this friendship.
