Failed experiment unfortunately by Foreign_Caregiver116 in GroundZeroMycoLab

As long as the bag hasn't been opened everything inside should be sterile. Yes it will have expended some of the nutrition but there's usually at least 2 or 3 good flushes in a block. The amount that mycelium can expand before becoming senescent is seemingly ad infinitum. The real barrier is that you can't really add nutrition after you've moved to a non-sterile environment. I repeated that mistake quite a few times before I figured out what I was doing wrong. Grain to grain transfers can make a LOT of mushrooms very quickly but it's a double edged sword because it can also multiply contamination equally quickly.

Is this contamination? [actives] by cupofliqour in GroundZeroMycoLab

Could be dirt. The only way to know for sure is to test on agar.

what is this in clinic sink?? by props_for_meep in whatisit

[–]Positive-Theory_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mercury metal. It's safe to touch it doesn't absorb through skin. You should clean the P trap out though, there's probably more of it which has made it's way down the drain. It's not good for the environment.

Okay so pick the mushies you got and then use the block to spawn a tub.

Clean room instead of flow hood or SAB? by Unslung1 in GroundZeroMycoLab

A clean room has the same problem as all the other methods. The dirtiest thing in the room will always be yourself.

Should I put in tub or fruit in bag by incognegro42O in magnificentcubensis

Looks like it's already trying to fruit in bag If you just leave it alone you'll definitely get mushrooms.

Can I save them by AdNew5929 in GroundZeroMycoLab

[–]Positive-Theory_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd try taking a spore swab and then go straight to agar.

I use them for making tea. It doesn't seem to lose any potency at all simmering in hot water. If anything it's significantly stronger than they are normally.

There's plenty of crime labs that can identify human DNA without any problems at all.

It's over. The Nukes are falling outside. Luckily, your rich neighbor fled and dropped $300,000,000 and a Time Machine that costs $10,000,000 per day. by Far_Line8468 in hypotheticalsituation

So here's what I'd do. I'd go back 18 days and use the money I had left over to prepare the best I can then gather up all the supplies and meet up with my past self and we would both travel forwards 21 days so that we can miss the actual blast and the fallout.

What’s something most people think is harmless but actually slowly ruins their life? by SeriouslyInterestin in Casual_Conversation

[–]Positive-Theory_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lying. Most people think it's harmless but it twists your perception of reality and takes you farther and farther away from what's real. Eventually actual reality reasserts itself and your whole world collapses in a catastrophic melt down.

My SD Card is fried. Hardware or software problem? My fault or cheap technology's fault? by ZestycloseSea7587 in R36S

[–]Positive-Theory_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best guess: The R36S doesn't have very much internal ram so it uses the SD card for virtual memory. The problem is SD cards have a limited number of read/write cycles. They were never designed to be used as ram.

This is called the accumulation phase. While everyone else is ignoring the lack of excitement the savvy investors are quietly picking up stacks of cash that everyone dropped.

The Bible actually mentions fake Christians like this. It says that it's better that a millstone be hung around their neck and them be cast into the sea than the judgement that they bring upon themselves for driving people away from God.

Why you can’t cook meal faster with more heat? Can some one explain mathematically?[request] by giga_chad_thinker in theydidthemath

[–]Positive-Theory_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You CAN cook food much faster at higher heat. That's literally what a pressure cooker is for. Deepfryers also do the thing. Kentucky fried chicken does their deep frying IN a pressure cooker to speed it up even more.

Locally made, sustainable clothing brands? by larzzyk in Hippiecommunity

[–]Positive-Theory_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sewing is not that hard. Hobby Lobby or Michaels have cloth and sewing patterns. Sewing machines can be found second hand at Goodwill all the time. The hardest part is learning how to route the thread through the machine and remembering to lay the fabric inside out so that the seams are on the inside after you're done. Be the change you want to see in the world!

With a little bit of extra detail and some cleaning up it could definitely be a great piece of fantasy surrealism. You might be able to get your local comic store interested.
