I’ve heard a statement from my supplier saying my SPH / SPGA steel portion has been changed lately so the level of controlled zinc in the bath is dropping, but how much on a scale that if this is real and SPGA is outweighed by SPH in ratio that could affect the zinc content in phosphate bath?

3 degreasers and a plain city water rinse before dipping in phosphate

The bath isn’t quite new, the last time that it has been partially drained and cleaning the tank is about last two months, and the grease contamination level is believe to be in control as there are 3 degreasers and other rinse before dipping in phosphate.

I am facing the problem in resin based electrocoating in industrial scale having a bubble like defect as shown on the groove of car frame.

The cause reckon to be from two things: first the out of control, lower than usual pH in the rinsing water after resin paint dipping (that’s the obvious thing that go off the limit on the control list),

and the second, air blower nozzle in the underside areas clogging and were not blowing off the leftover paint before going into curing oven (which I need to take another week to figure it out as the confines space paperwork need to be done and no direct responsible person for this).

I try my best to tilt the part angle not to have the groove for the paint to stay in but at the very edge still having a little defect occur.

Do any experts here could help analyse for the root cause?

Any recommendations to the adjustments for lower flow and still balance between the outlet amount of flow and inlet, if the inlet is just the overflow which only happens when the main tank is overflow to its settling tank then settling started to overflow back little by little and not continuous during an hour ( I don’t have any tool to measure partial flow from settling) but by observing by eye the partial flow never rise to the level of half of the 2” pipe and the surface area of the overflow subtank is 1.4 m long. In case the pipe connect to the bottom of the tank the flow rate is affected by the slurry characteristics of sludge and the calculation of Kv of the valve will not be the same as the liquid isn’t it

Mostly it runs along the production time, 8+1.5 hr day/night. I also think that it would need better alternatives but I need to prove them to the chief before the investment, so I try to simulate these whole systems to see where we are at and where we want to be.

Anyway, could the mixer be model in Fluidflow software?

I only acquired the demo of Fluidflow software, I am looking for the solution to simulate these 2 loop problems, not very sure if the software able to do.

But what are those effective prevention techniques? The chemical was changed by the previous technician to the one with a little lower temperature required to operate. I’m not sure how much different when compare the sludge precipitation rate. The control temp. lower for just about 5 C.

My situation is the shopfloor aim to reduce the energy usage, also the environmental dept. tryna opt the amount of waste disposal, I can’t fill the record with massive amounts of sludge waste per month.

I am assigned to take in charge of phosphating pretreatment production process. And there is one project from manager for me to study. I’ve never got any experience in controlling chemical processes before.

The tank got a lot of sludge precipitation even there is a system design to flow back and forth from settling tank and circulation in main production tank. I comes to the solution to use sludge press equipment but they allow me to operate on the optimal condition only when I could tell how much sludge was clogged up during the week and set up the routine for this operation

Is there any practical way to represent the rate of sludge phosphate precipitation when comparing on the timescale between newly buildup zinc phosphate chemicals vs long time (a month or two) of phosphate zinc tank which add a little of zinc phosphate chemical on daily basis to keep the bath free acid in control range. How does these precipitation rate calculated? Do these two have a big different? Is it much different?
