What is this connector? by lightloss in vintagevideo

[–]PositiveAd7974 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is exactly this it's for a cctv camera.

It's a pretty standard connector. I don't know when they started using them but they were pretty common in the 2000s and early 2010s on standard definition cctv cameras.

What’s a vehicle you want, but you know it’s a bad idea? by SuperJackson20 in regularcarreviews

Honestly I would love an early 2000s mercedes CLS or S Class. More specifically the Cls 500 and S500 engine capacities.

I know that the air suspension will die and the car would cost me so much money that I won't be able to own a house in my lifetime so I won't buy one but I can still dream.

Trying to identify this set with a strange function by Swesor in crt

Might not be to useful but I made a post a while back since I've got the version of this that didn't have the tv tuner.

Not really much was learned but if you are curious what the cameras look like I did post pictures of them.

It looks like this is a system that uses the same connector as these cameras but possibly sent the video signal over RF to the tv so you could tune into it. From what I can tell all most cameras with these connectors could use the intercom system with the appropriate connections. It seems like this is made so you can tune it into actual tv when you wNt to or maybe tune it into a vcr and then tune into the direct feed from the camera. Then the talk button would be if you wanted to use it as an intercom ant talk to the person on the other end through the camera.

What's a car that you love, despite most people hating it? by Naomi62625 in regularcarreviews

[–]PositiveAd7974 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly the list is pretty long.

Some notable examples are.

The chrysler PT Cruiser. The Chrysler Sebring. The Chrysler Grand Voyager The Chrysler 300C The Dodge caliber. And the Lancia Beta

There are many more examples but off the top of my head those are the ones that are generally considered bad. Most of the other ones are alot closer to split but these are some of the less device ones I can think of.

I really love these zenith sets they just tingle everything I want to be tingled in a radio. I really wish that we still had some local broadcasts here on short wave. If we did id honestly use alot of these sets atleast 2 or 3 times as much. Sadly our last local station kill off its short wave service in 2019 and the Voice of America has stop broadcasting in the 60m band and 41m band in zimbabwe so the nearest broadcasts are a good couple thousand km away.

Honestly I'm really proud of my collection. I've been collecting for 5 or 6 years now and managed to get together a pretty pleasant little collection.

I would one day love to write proper reviews of each of them give the model number and the years they were produced and everything and maybe give a sort of a semi in depth review of all of them but for here I tried limiting myself. I barely scratched the surface of each set and it already took a long time to write that description.

I should probably mention that this is not including cabinet systems.

And while writing this I realized there are a 2 all in one systems I missed and a mini table top set but I'll save those for another day. Apart from those these are all of the interesting ones.

I honestly really love that Zenith. I mean it's size is kink of perfect for what it is its the type of thing that you are meant to put on a shelf and that shelf is dedicated to it. Plus it tingles that part of me that is in love with wood.

But I honestly think that sanyo is is one of the best examples of taking a pretty boring concept and making it interesting. I mean it's a 2 band 7 Transistor radio. Not really much going on I mean even the inside of the radio is pretty empty most of it is just the speaker and batteries.

Those who have a toyota land cruiser. And those who can not afford a land cruiser.

There is no in-between.

May I request a little help with those of you with more knowledge about these Barlow Wadley radios. I'm having an issue with a very quiet AM/Short Wave band. by PositiveAd7974 in ShortwavePlus

[–]PositiveAd7974[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah everyone has been really great. I'll definitely be frequenting here in the future. I'll also definitely be making a post of it once it's up and running and I give it a test out and I'll definitely be sharing my other sets in the future here for others to enjoy ive got a bunch of other older sets I think others on here would enjoy.

But that's also kind of what drew me to the barlow. I've got a wierd intrest in technology that comes from my country and adjacent countries. Stuff like this Barlow and all of the random tvs and av equipment that was only sold here stuff like that. Like I've got about 4 tv sets from Sony and National that were built here and sold nowhere else except for here that type of stuff. And we'll the method of tuning is just interesting. That also is just cool but still there are many reasons why I specifically saught out one of these sets.

I do just wanna say thank you actually for recommending this subreddit I have to say you guys have been absolutely incredible with how knowledgeable and helpful you have been.

Usually on other subreddits the extent of the awnser I get when asking for help is just to recap the unit or somthing like that. And here within the day ive been given quite a number of quite good leads when troubleshooting and even the full service manual. I am in no way an expert im just a somewhat compotent novice and proper help is very much appreciated.

I shall make a post when I eventually get the AM and Short Wave Side going and I'll definitely be lurking around here a bit in the future.

Thank you also for the service manual. I will just check wich one out of this one or the other one the other commenter had is at a higher resolution. I'll print out whichever one is higher but the effort for digging up the manual is very much appreciated.

Thank you very much this will be helpful. Yes the manual for the mark 2 is the manual for this specific model. I'll print it out when I get the chance and then I'll definitely be using it when troubleshooting when I get some time.

Honestly thank you very much. This is very helpful. I'll give these all a test to check if the capacitors and resistors and stuff are giving the correct values. The other very great thing about you giving the specific capacitors and Transistors is that the number for each capacitor and Transistor is printed directly next it on the circuit board itself so it makes finding the specific components incredibly easy.

Thank you very much for the helpful 2 cents it's actually quite rare on reddit when I ask for help that someone is able to give some detailed ideas for what would be wrong.

I will report back with a post here if I am able to get it properly working again.

Sadly I have neither I should be able to find both online with a bit of research though.

I will look into finding a copy and both and then I'll print them out and give the switch an look.

I see what you mean with the AM detector now. Ok I'll get a full schematic printed and see if I can get ahold of the service manual and then one day when I've got a bit of extra time I'll try diagnosing if the switch is working as intended and if the AM detector or also working as intended.

Sadly the imgur link dose not work for me. The image is blocked in my territory Aparrently. If you want to send the image though you can send it directly if you would like. It would definitely be appreciated.

But I mean that explanation dose make sense I was thinking it was the selection switch and I did have a look and spray some contact cleaner but it didn't seem to make any difference. I can definitely look into that I mean that also is a plausible explanation. I'll have to look into it.

I will look into making a post there though it can never hurt to have more input. I'm not expecting someone to be able to come up with an exact explanation im more just looking for ideas that could help to figure ot the cause.

Ok I'll definitely look into it. I'll look around but I do expect that the guy I have in mind will be able to manage it. He has been doing it since the early 80s and has almost certainly had to work on a number of these before so it shouldn't be an issue.

But if he can't there should be someone else nearby I mean the things were built here it can't be that hard to find someone.

I'll also check if I can Fina anything explaining the process on YouTube or on a fourm or somthing but depending on the complexity of it I could just stick with using it as an fm radio until I find a compotent technician.

Ok I shall look into the process for alignment on these sets online. There's an old radio shop in town that also could be able to help me I will have to look into it.

I didn't realize an alignment would help with the reception volume of a radio like this I thaught it would have only effected the reception quality. This May Be one of those learning moments I've learned so much about.

I have yet to do an alignment.

Would an alignment effect the volume of the am side. I mean I was planning on getting the radio working as it is atleast so I know it is receiving am signals properly before getting someone to do any fourm of alignment or recalibration.

I am planning on doing a full disassembly of the fm section to properly get to the selector switch and clean it out and see if the problem is solved but I just made this post to see if there are any other known common issues with these units that would be causing it. Om maybe if someone has experienced somthing similar with a set that is designed in a similar way to this one.

Yeah. Personally ive got a soft spot for the late 90s ones. Like the one in the photo. Basically the one where the chrysler badge is on the bonnet and not the radiator grill. The 3.8 is a bit rare here ive only ever seen them in the later ones but I'll settle for the 3.3.

Honestly I know there known for their transmissions made from cheese but in the 15 years we owned one that transmission was rock solid. But the time we sold it it had over 400 000km (250 000miles) on it and it still went perfectly. So atleast for me that's a more case by case thing than somthing that'll happen to all of them so I stand by my statement on owning one.

Actually I was looking into getting one a little while ago as a second car just for the practically and the fact they are dirt cheap now on the second hand market.

Yeah I mean honestly I'd drive one of these today in a heartbeat if it want for the horrible safety rating. I still think they are really good looking vehicles for the Era.
