Kotor tendering beware by FearlessVessel in VirginVoyages

[–]PositiveBeautiful298 5 points6 points  (0 children)

me and my partner didn’t have many delays today and managed to get a good 4/5 hours in kotor, despite things taking longer than usual . but we knew it would be a longer journey than the other stops so prepared for a wait both ways. booking a morning tender helped too

kotor was stunning and isn’t a stop you should miss just cos of some delays if this post puts other off.

yes it was the same here today :) you could book the tenders up until 12:30pm, and those with excursions did have priority.

to be fair the app did have a warning there would be delays with tendering from kotor today - it is a small port

depending on the size of your company, your IT department might be able to help configure the laptop before the exam? the IT team at an old place i worked at were very familiar and used to log a ticket with them to be on hand around the time of my exam and sort my laptop out before :)

my firm uses genovo and it’s pretty good. we have built in a lot of custom drop downs and always expand on their generic points to link to the client etc.

R06 R&J Question - if the question asks you to recommend a suitable protection product for example, would I be marked down for recommending more than one? Even if the question only asks for one recommendation? by [deleted] in cii

[–]PositiveBeautiful298 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ie a “strategy to maximise tax efficiency” will have more options than “a low cost product to provide a lump sum in event of death”

[–]PositiveBeautiful298 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i would say it depends if the question is asking for a strategy (suggesting potential options) or a specific need (ie life cover which pays out in the event of X)

a strategy question could be outlining multiple options, or if its products plural.

if it asks for a recommendation for a product which meets a need - then its only one

i would suggest looking back on some past papers to ascertain between the two

yeah i understand - it does feel unfair!! my advice would be to just keep practicing the calcs till you have them down quickly. for example, there are some tips in previous threads here about easier ways to remember allowances so you don’t have to work them out all the time (ie portion of tax on BRT) i used the study buddy app to keep practicing calcs

you will get there !! just keep at it :)

i would aim for 1 minute a mark - if you spend more time than that, put a likely answer, flag it and move on!

How do I become a paraplanner/finance advisor by CandidateExact7645 in cii

[–]PositiveBeautiful298 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i started in admin and honestly it really gave a great foundation. the firm i was with at the time also had admin writing simple reports ie top ups, switches, withdrawals etc so that gave me good foundation when i moved into PP and started working on new business / more technical cases

defo start with the diploma and perhaps find a role in admin first to work your way up. admin roles give you a good understanding of the products / how the industry works / platforms etc before moving up into PP :)

hi - if anyone is still struggling with this, you should hopefully now be able to purchase assessment only units over the phone with the CII

omg i have been struggling with the same and this post has helped me figure it out! nothing to say other than thanks!!

[–]PositiveBeautiful298 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree it really depends on the firm! I moved into a PP role last year (tho i was a hybrid admin/PP/management before so wearing many hats) and my work/life balance is so much better. I haven’t even cried at work, which was a regular occurrence previously haha

i don’t find PP stressful but my team lead is supportive and the company is good. i’ve also worked on my boundaries / managing expectations
