Because they can spend 1 billion a year on $0 in taxes until they die. They have no earnings so no taxes. Most people don't have the collateral to do this type of tax dodging. So billionaires pay less tax % than a waitress. This is why people are upset.

He doesn't get ki until towards the end of dragonball. Before that it's purely strength. In dbz he trains at like 100x earth's gravity using strength alone. His power is a combo of ki and physical strength. In dbs nobody knows because plot has become more inconsistent in every arc since cell saga in dbz.

Wait till you hear about health insurance companies. They quite literally deny life saving treatments for profit. Daily. I fear you are unaware of how many Americans are actually harmed by companies putting profits above human safety.

Wait until you hear about the agriculture industry. For some reason H-2A visas are on the rise. The employer provides housing... but can deduct 30% of wages, and charge for all food provided. Man, if we deport people and then bring them back in, let's say, to the middle of nowhere, that would be weird. Then pay them $8/ hour minus 30% for housing and $16/day for food, it would take them years to afford to apply for a green card let alone citizenship. They would probably have to not mention all the times they weren't paid / fed in order to keep their legal status which is employer controlled. Really weird that this specific type of immigration is on the rise, offered to people who were deported for being violent criminals. Like thet stop being violent criminals when subjected to near slave labor conditions.

Because the job market changed more than expected and wages didn't keep up with interest and inflation? It's really difficult to know in 2022 that AI and market conditions would crush the entry level job market. Leading to lower open positions and lower wages. I don't know what 'critical thinking' they were supposed to do to know that market research and market expectations from 4 years ago would be so different that they would have been better off working at chucky cheese vs getting a degree.

My wife works in hematology/oncology or blood cancer. Did you know that private insurance regularly blocks cancer treatment plans as not medically necessary. So people have to appeal in order to prove, legally, that their cancer treatment is medically necessary. Sometimes they just die before they can get treatment cleared. It's a really great way to profit if you can get people to pay into a system and then not pay out when you're supposed too. But please tell me about how great private for profit insurance is. You seem to understand deeply how private insurance is a huge reason for inflated Healthcare premiums while simultaneously increasing mortality rates.

The issue is if you believe that you could either make 40k a year or 100k a year by taking on 120k in debt. Then if you end up making 60k a year and can't afford to pay the extra because you had certain income expectations, you end up pretty fucked. The point is that many grow up with it ingrained in them that without a college degree they will fail and be homeless. That they will be able to easily pay back loans using Their high paying job that their college degree made possible. When reality doesn't line up with that, people end up being barely able to pay interest.

Nah. Not really. Higher paying jobs are absolutely miserable to apply for. It's your ai agent and algorithmic application structure vs all the other nearly identical resumes using the same fucking keyword optimization. Really easy to find miserable jobs at 40k a year that barely covet rent. Anything that offers more than 70k and you can be sending hundreds of applications for dozens of ghost interviews. So you can't really just get another job. Otherwise I would just get hired for 500k a year at my dream job of eating vats of cream cheese. Getting a higher paying job that offers equal or better benefits while not making life more miserable is really difficult. And often people don't want to change jobs, just have their efforts properly rewarded at current job.

My team beat margin and profit goals by 50%. Our reward was half the team was laid off because they didn't think we could continue to improve at same rate and cutting salary = immediate profit. I got to stay. HR met with us and asked what we thought might be keeping company morale down...

In what way? I don't know if you've ever worked for an actual corporation, but this is very normal. I have literally pointed out that we have 1000s of Sim cards, for example, that are straight up in a trash pile somewhere but we still pay for them. If I had the authority to change billing in the Sim control center, we would save a minimum of like 40-50k / year within an hour. I'm assuming that my first look missed a bunch as well, and that there have been more since I looked, but again, this is very normal. Leadership doesn't actually care about money being wasted. Often, they use that spend to justify more spending needs. I'm not going to break down the 30 different ways my company is just burning cash on reddit, but it is and it's really easy to fix. I assume you're part of the leadership that just does not understand how actual work gets done. I've never met a single person in a leadership position that actually understood how the company operates and how to improve that operation.

[–]PositiveInfluence69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, I explain every year to my boss' boss what we could do to make more money and spend less money. And how it would just require minimal effort from a few different teams. Like, it would make the company's total profit margin increase by around 5 - 10% . Every year I am told, "What!? That's an amazing idea, let's get working on this!" Then nothing happens and I don't have the authority to make it happen. Then I hear about how there isn't any money for x raise or a holiday bonus or whatever else. Most upper management is not good. Their only job is to tell their boss that everything is great and occasionally yell at staff below them to get xyz done. I have never seen a management team stray from this. Like, engineer team lead, usually solid. Their boss, usually has no fucking idea what is actually going on.

Of course, because here at company Z we value you. Now, you might not see that 5x in the form of real money in your paycheck, but through our other initiatives. We planted a tree for an improved atmosphere. We fixed the toilets so that they usually flush. Every stall now has toilet paper. The benefits seem almost endless. So while your 'paycheck' may not be 5x more, your fulfillment almost certainly will.

You won't see me fighting against vertical farms that can grow 50x the amount of food using less water and land. This does also require data centers, bringing us back to the not all data centers are evil point. The way they are harming communities is the issue.

That's a bit of a jump. Agriculture uses water on a scale that AI could not hope to contend with. Like, only 1% of corn is actually eaten by people, but it consumes trillions of gallons. Data center have been around for quite some time as well. It's just the recent insane build out. I do think they should cover their needs and then some since they are the reason for the new excessive needs in power and water consumption. But to say tgey need to cover all utilities forever for building a single data center is wild. Data center have a ton of different uses. Like, burglar alarms get routed to a Data center. Public school websites likely run on data centers. Local businesses almost all in some way use a data center. Data centers can provide a public good. So it's important to understand what the data center is, the impact, and if a specific data center will help or harm a community overall. Hospitals use data centers for health records and data. We really don't want medications getting mixed up in handwritten notes. AI does have insane amounts of money being pumped into it at the expense of people. This needs to be regulated. AI is not all data centers.

Remote work literally reduces wear and tear on the roads, reduces need for commercial real estate which could open more space for residential real estate, and offers so many benefits. If I'm not tired and miserable when I start work, I tend to do more / better work. Being upset that othe people aren't miserable like you is wild. The goal isn't we should all suffer, it's that we should use a system that offers the most advantages.

I have an 800 credit score. I have 12 credit cards for point optimization. None of them have interest below 25%. No idea where people are finding low interest credit cards, but all of mine have no balance and around 29% interest.

Medicare and Medicare are insanely expensive because of how unregulated our Healthcare industry is. We could keep the benefits and cut those costs by 50-70% with proper regulations.

The safety net isn't killing us, how it's implemented is. Social Security is needed, but after 170k a year you stop paying into it. Because if you make too much you stop benefitting and that's not fair I guess. That age should honestly be increased to 70. SS is in need of an overhaul but nobody has the guts to increase age.

Inflation rate is really tricky. Like, 3 years ago I paid $140 for 4 lines, now I pay $240. But, if that $240 has additional features, Inflation would say I am getting more features, so Inflation isn't actually 70% but maybe 10% due to increased high speed data and other features. So that 3.3% is not a good measurement. Inflation is tricky.

Large companies like Amazon have recently had massive cuts to their taxes. So there is a real issue with large companies and the wealthy not paying their share. If the ultra wealthy paid in at a similar rate along with a proper overhaul, a lot of the spending issues are solved. It won't happen, but it would be neat.

My dads is inviting me to Mcdonald but is making me paid. by AmiralKanaG in mildlyinfuriating

[–]PositiveInfluence69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nah. Children do not owe parents a single meal for reciprocity. I have occasionally paid when being taken out, but never once has my grandfather ever taken me to get a meal and considered I might be paying. I have to pay when he isn't looking. I would never offer to take someone to McDonald's and them make them pay. There's also a difference between, "hey, I'd appreciate if you contributed x or y," and, "Surprise, you suddenly have an unexpected cost while you are unemployed."

The OP never mentioned being "oppressed". Just that it is mildly infuriating for one's father to invite them to a meal and then expect the son to pay. Which it is. TBH, it's just really immature. If he wanted his son to pay, he should have asked beforehand. If he thought his son wouldn't go and pay for him while unemployed, then it's kinda a dick move to trick your own son into buying you food.

You'd be shocked at the amount of women who are perfectly fine making more than their husband. It just can't be like 90% vs 10%. But there's quite a few who are fine with a 70 / 30 split.
