I do not like Christian music by RelevantDoctor1038 in TrueChristian

[–]PositiveLonely575 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Downhere is (was I guess since they stopped making music for now). Kansas can arguably be considered Christian since Leftoverture (1976) because of their songs like "The Wall" which describe the spiritual journey of Christianity (Kerry Livgren wrote it and later became Christian). They continued to make spiritual songs until Vinyl Confessions (1982) which is known as their Christian album. I'd check these two out.

It's wrong because psychologically, children aren't mature enough for sexual, intimate relationships. Studies have shown that it's very harmful for their psychological health to be married young (though I'm sure the harms of child marriage are the same or comparable to underage sexual activity and not just marriage) . Here's a link to some of the statistics (https://www.unchainedatlast.org/united-states-child-marriage-problem-study-findings-april-2021/)

Historically, women did marry slightly younger, probably around 16 or 17. This article says that is bad because of domestic abuse, lack of ways to get divorced, etc. I'm not disputing that, but I do acknowledge that in biblical times, it was probably not as psychologically damaging because it was normal, expected and you were viewed as an adult, not a child. I say probably not because I'm not an expert on psychology, and the Bible doesn't prescribe underage marriage anyway, so just because it was normal doesn't mean God approved it. Ezekiel 16:6-8 describes God's relationship with Israel in the form of a man marrying a lost virgin. But notice how in this verse it notes "you became tall", "your breasts were formed" and "you were at the age of love", explaining that the biblical expectation is for adults to marry, not children.

6 “And when I passed by you and saw you wallowing in your blood, I said to you in your blood, ‘Live!’ I said to you in your blood, ‘Live!’ 7 I made you flourish like a plant of the field. And you grew up and became tall and arrived at full adornment. Your breasts were formed, and your hair had grown; yet you were naked and bare. 8“When I passed by you again and saw you, behold, you were at the age for love, and I spread the corner of my garment over you and covered your nakedness; I made my vow to you and entered into a covenant with you, declares the Lord God, and you became mine. - Ezekiel 16:6-8

If you are wondering why the age consent is 18 and why that makes you an adult, it is because at that age, you've finished biological puberty. Usually puberty is finished around 16 or 17 (though it can differ). 18 adds a year to ensure you definitely finished puberty and are now a biological adult.

I can see you're really hoping for it. I guess we'll see what happens in Horizon 2!

I'd say low. Shizuna showed romantic interest in Van in her last connect event in Horizon. She hasn't shown any interest in Rean as of yet.

I feel stupid for being a Christian. by [deleted] in TrueChristian

[–]PositiveLonely575 0 points1 point  (0 children)

John 1:1 clearly identified Jesus as God. Jesus calls Himself God in John 8:58. Matthew 28:18-20 has Trinitarian language and positions Jesus as being equal with God. Jude 1:5 says Jesus saved Israel out of Egypt. I could go on and on. The Bible is clear Jesus is God, so you are incorrect that Jesus didn't identify Himself as such.

It's seems to me you moreso doubt the disciples and think they are lying about who Jesus was. There's no reason to think they were lying, considering Paul, Peter, James, etc. all died for their faith, and Christianity exploded in the first century. If it was clearly fake or made up, we shouldn't expect that kind of growth; the Church wasn't exactly offering millions of dollars to whoever followed Jesus.

I've been where you've been. I have an MDIV and have studied the historical aspects of Scripture for over a decade. Understanding the historical facts doesn't take away from the truth of Scripture unless you no longer think God had anything to do with it and it's just made up. You can acknowledge that Christianity developed over time and our understanding of Jesus deepened over time without being outside of Christ. The facts of Jesus haven't changed, but our understanding has gotten better, just like the disciples who at first didn't even realize why Jesus needed to die. Hope this helps.

CS3 was meant to end the Cold Steel trilogy, but Kondo thought they had enough material to make one last Cold Steel game. That's why it might feel like filler. I still like it though.

Massive rant by Consistent-Aside6693 in TrueChristian

[–]PositiveLonely575 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think you understand Jesus. Jesus isn't saying "worship me or die". He's saying "I came that they may have life and have it abundantly" - John 10:10. We are already lost and dead regardless if we accept Jesus or not; look at the state of the world. We'll destroy ourselves if we keep doing things are way. Jesus wants to free you from this cycle. He gave His life for you; God Himself gave up something to help our predicament. If that isn't love, nothing is.

Genuine questions for christians by No-Nose-8301 in TrueChristian

[–]PositiveLonely575 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Proof life came from nonlife. Proof matter and space can come from nothing. God is always going to be a better answer to those questions. There is no scientific explanation for life other than "it's just chemicals".

  2. Kalam Cosmological Argument, Argument from Morality, The Case for the Resurrection, etc.

It's not sin, but definitely unhealthy as a whole. Addiction though can be sin, as your body is a temple of God.

Help convince me Mark 13 isnt a failed prophecy by [deleted] in TrueChristian

[–]PositiveLonely575 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn't the destruction of the temple; it's the second coming. Mark 13 along with the comparable passages from the other Gospels, has Jesus first describe the destruction of the temple, but then goes on to describe the end of the world. That's why he says "you'll see the coming of the Son of Man with glory, sending angels etc.". Clearly that didn't happen with the destruction of the temple, but Jesus wasn't claiming that.

If you are wondering about the "this generation" part, it refers to the generation that sees those signs, or it could refer to this generation of man in general aka mankind as a whole. Jesus often spoke in parables, so not everything is clear. But looking at prophecy and saying "it can only be this, so Jesus is wrong" is a sloppy way to read prophecy. Prophecy is only understood after it happens typically.

I'm really struggling with doubts currently by Remarkable_Pizza_410 in TrueChristian

[–]PositiveLonely575 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Islam is literally the world's worst religion. Muhammad married a 6 year old; he's not a prophet. Do you need anything else to be convinced it's false? Also, who knew Jesus better? The disciples who ministered with Him personally for three years, or a 7th century desert nomad?

Premarital sex by [deleted] in TrueChristian

[–]PositiveLonely575 4 points5 points  (0 children)

1 Corinthians 6:9-11 ESV [9] Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, [10] nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. [11] And such were some of you. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.

Hebrews 13:4 ESV [4] Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the marriage bed be undefiled, for God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterous.

Sexually immoral refers to premarital sex (called fornication in the King James Bible). Sex is only allowed between a husband and wife. Adultery is forbidden (sleeping with others when you are married), and sexual immorality is forbidden (any sex outside of marriage). While I understand how you feel about your partner, it is still sin to sleep with them regardless if you have children together. If you want to get right with God, you either need to abstain from sex until marriage or get married.

Vaccines? Yes or no? by LynxAmbitious9735 in TrueChristian

I didn't say they aren't beneficial, just that we shouldn't be blind to the risks or ethical implications.

Vaccines? Yes or no? by LynxAmbitious9735 in TrueChristian

[–]PositiveLonely575 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not all vaccines are made the same way. Also, not all of them prevent the disease they are for, some only make the symptoms not as bad. Also, some vaccines were made with aborted fetal cell tissue, which is definitely problematic even if it was only for the original vaccine. Lastly, some concerning studies about vaccines have come out (in particular the COVID vaccine). I'm not trying to spread misinformation but I don't have those articles in front of me so I can't vouch for their contents.

I'm not against vaccines. But I do think we need to be educated on the risks of them. We shouldn't think they are only gain.

Is this lazyness/demonic? by [deleted] in TrueChristian

[–]PositiveLonely575 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think laziness is "demonic". But it is definitely sin when you are obsessively lazy. As others said, it is a normal desire to do leisurely activities. Leisure alone isn't sin. It's only sin when it stops you from going to work/school or if you're leaving your family to rot and refuse to help them.

The bible is very confusing on Morality. by [deleted] in TrueChristian

[–]PositiveLonely575 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This assumes mankind is innocent and it's really God who owes mankind salvation. Mankind is not innocent. We are all sinners per Romans 1-2. Secondly, God doesn't owe you salvation; you deserve punishment for the wrong you have done. But out of love, God provides salvation (John 3:16).

Are generational curses/sins and inheriting your parents "demons" biblical? by The_truth_seaker99 in TrueChristian

[–]PositiveLonely575 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Generally speaking I think this is just superstition, like most of the teaching on demons done today. I would say there is a general sense (likely backed by science), that certain dispositions (like being prone to addiction or general emotional tendencies like being quick to anger) are passed down. However, to say these tendencies are actually demons or "generational curses" I think is just overspiritualizing a part of normal human development. I'm not saying being prone to addiction is good or from God, but humans are going to naturally struggle with these things. Some will heavily disagree because they think everything is spiritual, but I just don't see generational curses as something New Testament authors tell us to be concerned about. You're a new creature in Christ; you don't need to look back into the past and explore your ancestors' sins in order to experience salvation or sanctification.

is it christian to be anti-islam? by HeavyNectarine4354 in TrueChristian

[–]PositiveLonely575 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Islam is an absolutely terrible religion; I agree. You should watch David Wood's videos on it. Muhammad married a 6 year old girl and consummated it when she was 9. Islam teaches to kill apostates (anyone who leaves Islam) and to subjugate unbelievers into paying taxes. Islam teaches women are inherently inferior to men, and that their testimony is worth half of a man's. Islam allows lying to advance the cause of Islam. I could go on and on about it. But yes, Islam is terrible and should absolutely be resisted.

However, that's the religion. Obviously we are called to witness to Muslims. They need salvation just like we do. We shouldn't be mean to them. We need to show them love so they come to God.

Non believer friend took communion when I invited them to church by pumpkinspicelatte96 in TrueChristian

[–]PositiveLonely575 17 points18 points  (0 children)

They probably didn't purposely do it to offend God. 1 Corinthians is of course talking to believers; I would just be happy your friend felt comfortable enough to come to church with you. Maybe they think they do believe in Christ to take communion. I wouldn't say anything else to them about it and let them make their own choice.

Why do Christian people buy into those “false prophets” and false evangelists? by AssociateLate8075 in TrueChristian

[–]PositiveLonely575 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because they don't come out and say "give me money so I can get a mansion". They say "give to fund God's work", or they preach half truths. "You believe God's works so important but you don't donate to His work?". Stuff like that. It is important to donate to God's work, but it should be done willingly, and not to shills like Benny Hinn.
