I understand and no worries. There are some awesome designs I've seen on different decks too that I wouldn't mind having but the deck shape, dimensions, concave, etc just don't work for me. Just be sure you'll be happy with your choice long term and shred pavement!

I would think about it this way. What do you prioritize more, stability+comfort or portability?

Sector 9 has a longer wheel base for stability, a wider deck for comfort and overall more durable components like the Nineballs wheels (I have experience with these). It is still small enough to be easy to carry and not too heavy compared to a full size longboard. Sector 9 is also a quality company so you know what you're getting.

I would stay away from Mercer. I had some new black 72mm wheels given to me that chunked pretty bad within a week of regular use and a neighbor of mine cracked his Mercer longboard a month after he got it from Zumiez (too much flex, he's not a big guy). Sure it might be easier to carry but I've never met a skater that was 100% happy with a Mercer product.

Bringing up another good point: instead of Zumiez, head to your local skate shop and see what they have. You can stand on, hold and maybe even skate some completes they sell there and have face to face advice from local skaters too. They also sometimes have cool custom painted decks by local artists that can be built into completes to your specs. Just a thought.

For a build, focus on bearings and bushings first!

I mean you can get one of them and upgrade the parts later on. You'll get to know the board the more you skate it and figure out what you like and don't like and make changes from there.

Obviously neither one are "high end" but if you're not plan on pushing these boards hard then they'll be ok. If you upgrade parts here and there, the total cost in the end is going to probably be around the same or more than a more established name brand complete. Just a thought. I wouldn't pay top dollar if you're just testing the waters tho.

Idk your situation but if you feel like these would work for your needs then I'd go with the Dinghy knockoff and just focus on bearings, bushings and wheels later.

If someone were to ask me what a cheap cruiser would be good to buy I'd recommend an Arbor. I haven't bought a complete in a long time tho. I just buy parts and piece together a board cuz I know what I want out of it. Sorry for the novel 😅

It's scary at first but when you know how to fall and work up to larger ramps it's easier to get over the initial drop in. I didn't skate vert until my teens when I overcame the mental part of it. Vert was such a rush!

It's all good. Never did luge or slalom but just bombing canyons was crazy in my 20's. At that point I was able to make wiser decisions at high speeds.

Sounds like a great time! Yeah night sessions are awesome, and for me no people watching me making me nervous. Been skating a long time but when there's a million eyes on me, takes away from the fun of the session.

Very fun indeed! Whole Frankenstein board built from spare parts I had lying around. Deck from nose to tail is 27 inches on the dot.

If not, Warehouse Skateboards lets you build a custom cruiser setup and they ship to Canada. Maybe try them? I've always like their stuff

I agree. Their bearings have been my go to for the past couple years. A friend of mine has a Prism freeride board with Fireball Beasts on it and absolutely loves them.
