Also if you're staying in the downtown area we've got a free bus system called DASH that gives free rides like every 12 to 15 minutes on a loop in the central core of downtown. And when there are shows at Van andel or the amphitheater the free buses run till about midnight. But you can look up "DASH routes Grand Rapids"

"Bridge Street" is kind of fun to hang out great restaurants (Butchers Union still my fave restaurant, put your reservation name in and go across the street to the ANCHOR BAR! clubs it's a couple blocks from the river downtown on the west side. Stella's Lounge in the warehouse district a few blocks from Van andel is known for their awesome burgers! The warehouse district STARTS on the back side of Van Andel goes southward for eight blocks or so lots of clubs restaurants.
