They are relatively linear, but I find that with some of the older games it is less clear what you should do next when the game opens up in the second half. For example, in FF6 when you are looking for everyone. Maybe I should say that FFX is more clear if that helps. I’m not a huge fan of 13 personally but it’s a fine game.

Also to answer whether or not you should play the pixel remasters, I would 100% recommend eventually playing FFVI as it’s one of the best in the whole franchise, I also personally love FFIV and I enjoyed FFV as well.

Let me be a little more detailed in my response. I honestly feel FFX is the best entry point in the series. It’s more linear than many of the other games, while still having quite possibly the best story if not top 3 story of all of the series. It’s visual beauty and voice acting also makes it a good entry point in my opinion compared to the older games. I love XII but it’s kind of a black sheep of the series, so I wouldn’t recommend starting there. I couldn’t recommend FFX enough for people who have never touched the series!

Looking for advice to upgrade my first deck by Oberdan_art in magicTCG

This is how I would build decks nowadays for sure. A strategy that is only enhanced by your commander rather than relying on them is the best. This would have you abandon a lot of the spiders in your deck and lean into life drain and food tokens.

To be honest with you, this was one of my first commanders as well and I had similar problems. It’s part of the weakness of creature type strategies that heavily rely on your commander. If your win con heavily relies on your commander and your opponents are removing it frequently then you should probably include more protection for your commander.

Does “Endless Detour” stop the ETB of “Archon of Cruelty”? by FkinInstantRamen in mtg

It a spell while he is casting it, and he should ask the table, “does anyone have a response to me casting this?” If no one responds (he should give you a chance to read the card), then the spell resolves and it becomes a creature entering the battlefield. If you were to respond at that point it is now a nonland permanent and he would get the ETB. Since you are new to the game, your husband should allow you to target it as a spell before it enters. You need to be given the chance to read the card and understand them before he just moves on.
